Union Public Service commission (UPSC), New Delhi Invites Applications for Geologists Examination 2012 For Recruitment

Applications are invited from well-qualified and skillful Indian candidates for Geologists Examination 2012 for the following positions:

Category I: Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines

Category II: Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources

Note

Candidates’ selection is to be done on the basis of Written Examination, followed by Interview Test and Documents Verification. Candidates qualified in the written examination will be called for the interview test. The written examination is scheduled to be held from 1^st Dec, 2012 onwards.

Examination will be conducted at Allahabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Shillong, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram centers. The examination schedule and centre address will be mentioned in the candidates’ e-Admission Certificate.

Online registration began from 15^th Sep, 2012 and will close on 15^th Oct, 2012 till 11.59 pm. Eligibility Conditions

For Geologist (Group A) / Assistant Geologist (Grade I & Group B)

Master’s Degree in Geological Science / Geology / Applied Geology / Geo-Exploration / Mineral Exploration / Engineering Geology / Marine Geology / Earth Science and Resource Management / Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies / Petroleum Geosciences / Geochemistry from a reputed University incorporated by an Act of the Central / State Legislature in India or an Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956).

For Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) / Assistant Hydrogeologists (Group B)

Master’s Degree in Geology / Applied Geology / Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of theCentral / State Legislature in India or other Educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act,1956
Or
Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University

Required Age

21-32 years: Geologist / Assistant Geologist
21-35 years: Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B)
21-30 years: Assistant Hydrogeologists
Age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC / PH / EXS candidates provided as per government norms

Application Fee: Rs.200 (Exempted for SC / ST / PH / Female candidates)

How to Apply

Candidates, who fulfill the eligibility criteria and are willing to apply, can fill the online application form by visiting the official link of UPSC: http://www.upsconline.nic.in/
Online registration is to be done in two parts i.e., Part I Registration & Part II Registration.
Candidates applying through online mode should pay an application fee of Rs.25, either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or through net banking facility of SBI / State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or by Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
After successful submission of the online application form, the system will generate a complete application form with unique Registration No., which candidates are required to print out and keep with them for future reference.
