English language skills marks to be excluded from CSAT merit

UPSC has announced that marks of English Language skill will not be included in CSAT-II exam result held by UPSC. The examination will not include the English marks for the gradation or merit this year onwards and the 2011 candidates will get the second chance to appear for the test again in 2015.

The CSAT examination comprises of two compulsory papers for 200 marks each. CSAT-I and CSAT-II- both the papers are set for the preliminary examination. The topics included in CSAT-II examination are comprehension, inter-personal skills including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem- solving, general mental ability, basic numeracy, and English language comprehension skills for class 10 level.
