Gujarat University's Ph.D, M.Phil entrance results declared

The Gujarat University (GU) on Tuesday announced the results of PhD and M.Phil entrance exams. The 50% pass criterion was lowered to 40% in the general category this time and to 35% for the reserved category candidates.

About  544 students had appeared in the M.Phil entrance test. The test was of 120 marks, out of which students who scored 48 marks were declared qualified. The pass marks for students in the reserved category was 42.

Officials said 1101 students had appeared in the PhD entrance test. The paper was of 150 marks. Students who secured 60 marks in the general category and 53 marks in the reserved category were declared qualified.

GU authorities said that pass standards were lowered as majority students were unable to score 50% marks especially in English, Science and Commerce faculties.
