B.Sc (Agricultural Biotechnology) or Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology is a four-year Under-Graduate Agriculture course. Agricultural Biotechnology covers the study of the concepts, methods, and a range of tools employed to understand and manipulate the genetic make-up of organisms to increase the production or processing of agricultural products.

The degree course in Agricultural Biotechnology covers the study of topics like Crop and Plant biotechnology, crop yield, the reduced vulnerability of crops to environmental stresses, increased nutritional qualities and improved taste, texture, and appearance of food, reduced dependence on fertilizers, pesticides, and other agrochemicals, biofuels, plant and animal breeding, cell structure and physiological processes, photosynthesis, genetic engineering for crop improvement, etc. Green biotechnology is the name given to biotechnology applied to agricultural processes. The duration of the Agricultural Biotechnology course is four years and it is career orienting in nature.

B.Sc (Agricultural Biotechnology) Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations from a recognized Board
  • 10+2 class must be qualified with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects mandatorily
  • Some reputed colleges and institutes demand a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 as qualifying criteria to secure admission
  • Also, a few of the very reputed colleges and institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission to a degree course. Selection is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e., total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.
