A Degree in Chemistry opens the world of numerous opportunities of career in chemistry in India. Chemistry is a physical science which studies various atoms, molecules, crystals and other aggregates of matter whether in isolation or combination, which incorporates the concepts of energy and entropy in relation to the spontaneity of chemical processes. It is popularly known as 'The Science of Matter' as it is the branch of the natural sciences which mostly deals with the composition of substances and their properties. Chemistry Courses in India are useful in various contexts and a variety of career areas which include laboratory skills, the ability to approach problems in an analytical and logical way, a high degree of numerical, computing skills, time management skills, the ability to write technical reports and an appreciation of the need for accuracy and attention to detail. Professional of Chemistry is known as Chemist, here Chemist is not restricted to just Medical Chemist, any scientist who specializes in chemistry is known as such. Chemists study the composition of matter and its properties such as density, acidity, size and shape. Most chemists specialize in one or more sub-disciplines according to the choice of their specialised field.

Job Perspectives

Chemicals are used in everything that we use, whether in food or in medicines, or in electronics or in construction. As such there is a job for Chemistry Degrees holders, to wherever their eyes can roll to. The three major employers of chemists are academic institutions, industry, especially the chemical industry and the pharmaceutical industry, and government laboratories. Jobs for chemists usually require at least a bachelor's degree, but many positions, especially those in research, require a Ph.D. The chemical industry is huge and employs a large number of bachelors in chemistry. A graduate in Chemistry can go into research, conducting experiments and developing theoretical knowledge in a variety of theoretical or applied areas, or even get into teaching and academics. Industries in the manufacture and processing of food and beverage products such as biscuits and noodles, jams and cheeses, and readymade processed food items also take on chemistry graduates. Other jobs include those in the energy - oil, gas, and power sectors, as also those in the health and pharmaceutical fields.
