M.E (Bioinformatics) or Master of Engineering in Bioinformatics is a two-year Post-Graduate Bioinformatics course. Bioinformatics is the application of computer science and information technology to the field of biology and medicine. The Master of Engineering course in Bioinformatics applies methods of computer science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, and statistics to biological data, such as genome DNA sequences, or protein structures.

Bio-informaticians usually work as experts within biomedical or pharmaceutical R&D. The Master of Engineering degree program in Bioinformatics immerses students in the topics and applied methods of computational modeling, molecular biology, systems biology, structural biology, proteomics, genomic sequencing, and genomic analysis, microarrays, and microarray analysis.

M.E (Bioinformatics) Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed a B.E./B.Tech or equivalent exam from a recognized university board.
  • Some reputed colleges and institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.

M.E (Bioinformatics) Course Suitability

  • This degree is suitable for students interested in pursuing a career in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, biomedical or related industries, or for those interested in pursuing advanced degrees in bioinformatics or medicine.
  • Candidates, willing for further studies such as M.Phil. also are suitable for it.
  • They should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

How is M.E (Bioinformatics) Course Beneficial?

  • It is beneficial for those who understand the language of both experimental biologists and computing scientists and can bridge the gap between them.
  • The course is also beneficial for further studies such as Ph.D.
  • He can advise the biologist on what computational resources are most appropriate to solve a problem and how best to use them and can interpret a biological problem to the software engineer.
  • The Course provides the student with an understanding of bioinformatics, computer science, and biology fundamentals, along with supporting science and mathematics.
