Degree

Eligibility

Post Graduation

M.Phil. Environmental Biology or Master of Philosophy in Environmental Biology is a two-year postgraduate Environmental Science programme. The MPhil is a two-year research degree where students get the opportunity to study a specific research project. Animals, microorganisms and plants live in environments to which they have become adapted through millions of years of evolution; they often have to respond to changes which are biotic or abiotic in nature, and, increasingly, to anthropogenic perturbations which have resulted in global environmental change; in understanding how organisms respond and interact with 1 another in their natural and man-made habitats, a wide spectrum of approaches is employed in environmental biological research ranging from molecular biology to population biology and community ecology.

M.Phil. Environmental Biology Eligibility

  • The candidates should have passed a post-graduate degree in relevant subject or equivalent with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • They should clear the common entrance exam conducted by the University for the Course.

M.Phil. Environmental Biology Course Suitability

  • Students willing to refine knowledge in the field of environmental sciences and deepen understanding of the ecological principles that lead to sustainability and preserving biodiversity are a good suit for it.
  • They possess good communication skills like speaking, listening and writing abilities which are important as they should share research findings with colleagues.
  • They also need to have critical thinking skills to weigh possible solutions to problems to pick the one which is most likely to be successful.

How is M.Phil. Environmental Biology Course Beneficial?

  • Master of Programme provides biologists planning a career in environmental research, whether in Universities, in national agencies or in the private sector, with a toolbox of essential techniques.
  • The course is beneficial for further research programme such as Ph.D. The Environmental Biology prepares students as professional biologists with a strong environmental emphasis.
  • The job opportunities in this area in the private and government organizations, as well as industries, are increasing due to the growing industrialization and realization to check the pollution levels.
  • Professionals in this career can also opt for teaching jobs in universities and colleges.
