M.Sc. Oceanography or Master of Science in Oceanography is a postgraduate Oceanography course. Oceanography covers the science of oceans is the scientific study of all aspects of the ocean, their boundaries and their continents. To be more specific, oceanography is the study of the seas, its coastline, estuaries, coastal waters, shelves and the ocean bed. The duration of M.Sc. in Oceanography is mostly of two academic years but it varies from institute to institute. The Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala is providing in two years. The minimum time to complete the course is also two years. The course is available both in full time and a part-time basis. The syllabus for the Master degree course is divided into four semesters.

M.Sc. Oceanography Eligibility

  • Candidates should complete their B.Sc. degree under any registered University in respective subjects like Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Agriculture, Fishery Science, Earth Science, Physics, Microbiology and Applied Sciences in Science stream.
  • The marks of admission for this course vary from University to University. In various colleges and Universities, it conducts entrance exams for the admission of the students, for example, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala where admission criteria are CAT entrance test.
