Graduation

M.Sc or Master of Science is a two-year Post-Graduate degree program. A Master of Science degree provides scientific as well as professional entry-level competency to students. The course offers advanced theoretical as well as practical knowledge to students in their chosen specialization. Science is the study of the physical and natural world using theoretical models and data from experiments or observations. Science is a broad field and there are various branches in which one can gain mastery. The M.Sc specialization opted for by students is usually the one studied by them during graduation.

M.Sc courses are also available in Integrated Form whose duration is mostly 5 years. Example - Integrated M.Sc program, basic sciences (biology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics) offered by NISER. Integrated M.Sc courses provide additional knowledge of related and or interdisciplinary fields so that there is no need to do 2 separate courses. Distance Learning M.Sc courses are also available through various Distance Education Institutes as well.

Also offered as M.S (Master of Science), in some institutes, the course is of 2 or more years’ duration with 2 or more semesters depending upon the subject to master and the Institute providing it. The program is available in various subjects and provides specialized education. A master's Degree in Science is provided all over India in almost all Universities.

M.Sc Course Eligibility

  • Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science or equivalent in order to pursue the Master of Science Program.
  • Must possess at least 50-55% aggregate marks at Bachelor’s level.
  • The required percentage might vary depending on the institute to institute and from discipline to discipline.
  • Some institutes also conduct entrance tests for admission in their institutes.

M.Sc Course Suitability

  • This course is for those who wish to improve their analytical, critical assessment, and/or professional application abilities, as well as their capacity to tackle complicated problems and think critically and independently, who can pursue a Master of Science course.
  • Those with a thirst for study and free time can participate in the Master of Science program.
  • Those who are interested but are unable to pursue it full-time have the option of continuing their current work while enrolling in the study program.

How is M.Sc Course Beneficial?

  • M.Sc degree holders can move into various kinds of jobs depending on the specialization that they have studied. The course has great scope and there are ample opportunities for M.Sc pass-outs in both public as well as private sectors.
  • The Master of Science degree is a step up, providing a more sophisticated and intensive kind of information that not only expands one's knowledge but also allows for better and more appropriate application of that knowledge in a professional setting.
  • When someone applies for a job or changes jobs, it raises the weight of their portfolio. When compared to people with a Bachelor's Degree, a Master of Science allows you to attain higher-level employment.
  • A Master of Science degree allows you to continue on to a Ph.D. program.
