M.Tech. (Molecular Biology and Human Genetics)
Master of Technology in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics
| Duration: | 2 Years |
| Level: | Post Graduation |
| Type: | Degree |
| Eligibility: | Graduation |
M.Tech. Molecular Biology and Human Genetics or Master of Technology in Molecular Biology and Human Genetics is a two year post graduate Molecular Biology course. In molecular biology reverse transcriptase is commonly used in research to apply the polymerase chain reaction technique to RNA in a technique called reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). And in human genetics genes are the primary units of inheritance in all organisms. A gene is a unit of heredity and corresponds to a region of DNA that influences the form or function of an organism in specific ways. During the course students will also learn about bacterial viruses, transposons, plasmids and the analysis of recombination, genetic exchange and mutations. Part 2 (human genetics) focuses on mechanisms and factors that influence inheritance in humans; from the organization of the genetic material, its packaging into gametes and developmental processes to population structure and environmental factors. Included are also genetic diseases, pharmacogenetics, cancer, model organisms, genomics and techniques such as gene testing and gene therapy.
M.Tech. Molecular Biology and Human Genetics Eligibility
- B.E./ B.Tech. in relevant subject with 60% or equivalent CGPA.
- Some of the very reputed universities and institutes conduct entrance examination to get admission to the degree course.
