Ph.D. (Horticulture) or Doctor of Philosophy in Horticulture is a Doctorate level Horticulture course. Horticulture is the science which is associated with the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, ornamental plants, plantation crops, and tuber crops, medicinal and aromatic plants. The student conducts research under the guidance of the major professor and is granted for proven ability in research and scholarship.  After passing the course, they can join colleges and University.

Ph.D. (Horticulture) Eligibility

  • Postgraduates in Horticulture are eligible for M.Phil.
  • For admission to Ph.D. Program different agricultural universities exercise different modes of admission. Most of the State Agriculture Universities and ICAR Institutes conduct Entrance Examinations for Ph.D. admissions.

  • They should have the ability to communicate professionally and with the public about horticulture research and horticultural resources.
  • They should have the ability to perform other basic tasks required of a professional horticultural researcher such as skill in integrating horticultural systems concepts across multiple disciplines.
  • They should also be able to understand key linkages and interactions between horticulture and other biological and earth science processes.
  • Students also possess the ability to employ technical knowledge and leadership skills to a horticulture research problem.
