BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test 2013 - Banaras Hindu University (BHU) conducts various Entrance Tests for different course it offers. BHU Entrance Exam conducted for it's Nursing and Pharmacy Courses is commonly known as BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test - a Medical Entrance Exam in India conducted after 12th Exams.
Number of Seats
1. B.Sc. Nursing Course in the College of Nursing, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi - There are 60 seats; of which 15% (9 seats) are reserved for Scheduled Caste, 7.5% (5 seats) are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, 27% (16 seats) are reserved for the OBC candidates and the remaining 50.5% (30 Seats) are for the General Category in this academic session i.e. 2010-11. Physically disabled candidates are not eligible for B.Sc nursing course.
2. B.Pharm (Ay.) - 30 paid seats are available for admission to the first year B. Pharm (Ay.) of Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU at its Rajiv Gandhi South Campus Barakachha, Mirzapur. The distribution of seats amongst the categories is: General – 15, OBC – 8; SC – 5, ST – 2.
Note :- 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged (PC) candidates from each category.
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test Eligibility
Nationality:
The candidate should be an Indian National.
Educational Qualifications:
A candidate should posses Intermediate / 10+2 or equivalent with science subjects (Physics, Chemistry. Biology) and English from a recognized Board / University with minimum of 50% aggregate marks (PCBE) for the General/OBC Category (40% in case of SC/ST category).
Those who are appearing for the Intermediate or equivalent examination but the results are not declared shall be permitted to appear in the Written Entrance Test. However, they will be required to submit original mark sheet of the Intermediate or equivalent examination at the time of counselling to the office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi – 221005, without which their candidature for admission will not be considered.
Age:
The candidates should be 17 to 25 years of age on 31st December of the year of examination.
For B.Sc. Nursing course: Candidate who are Indian citizens and who are medically fit in all respects i.e. physically and mentally fit, are eligible to apply for admission to the B.Sc. Nursing course. Physically challenged (PC) candidates are not eligible for B.Sc. Nursing course.
Application Forms
- The prescribed Application form can be obtained from the Office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, B.H.U. Varanasi-221005 by post from Mid-January to Mid March by sending a self addressed unstamped envelope (24 X 30 cm) and a DD of Rs.650.00 (Rs.550.00 for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of “Director, IMS, BHU” payable at Varanasi.
- The prescribed Application form can be obtained from the Office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, B.H.U. Varanasi-221005 from January to Mid April in person on payment of a DD of RS. 600.00 (Rs.500.00 for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of “Director, IMS, BHU” payable at Varanasi, between 11.00 AM to 3.00 PM.
- Application Form can also be downloaded from IMS website www.imsbhu.nic.in or BHU website www.bhu.ac.in and can be sent to the above-mentioned office duly completed and accompanied by DD of Rs.600.00 (Rs.500.00 for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of - The Director, IMS BHU, payable at Varanasi on or before second week of April.
- Completed application forms are supposed to be submitted on or before Mid April in the 'Office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi - 221005'
- The last date for receipt of the completed Application Form in the office of the Director Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi - 221005 either by post or by hand is generally limited to or before second week of April, up to 5.00 pm.
- Provisional Admit Card shall be sent by Registered post to the Candidates.

BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test Syllabus
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test consists of questions from Physics, Chemistry. Botany & Zoology subjects of +2 level.
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test Pattern
- The question paper of the Written Entrance Test will have 100 'Multiple Choice Questions' each carrying 4 marks from Physics, Chemistry. Botany & Zoology (25 questions each) having maximum marks 400 with time duration of 2 hours.
- There will be negative marking for incorrect answers i.e. 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test Dates
BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test is held during May or June, generally 3rd week of May. The information about written entrance test is published in the advertisement in newspapers.

Selection Process of BHU B.Sc Nursing & B. Pharm (Ay.) Entrance Test
- The minimum qualifying marks in the Written Entrance Test for admission shall be 50% for General / OBC Category and 40% for SC/ST Category.
- The candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the Written Entrance Test conducted for the purpose.
In case of candidates obtaining equal marks in the Written Entrance Test, their inter se merit shall be decided in the following order:
a) Candidates securing higher marks obtained in zoology section of entrance test.
b) Candidates securing higher marks obtained in Botany section of entrance test.
c) Candidates securing higher marks obtained in Chemistry section of entrance test.
d) Candidates securing higher marks obtained in Physics section of entrance test.
e) If all above happen to be same, the candidate senior in each would rank higher.
- The Provisionally Selected Candidates will have to appear before the Admission Committee and their admission shall be subject to their medical fitness by the Medical Board appointed for the above purpose.
- Candidates who are less than 18 years of age would be required to submit consent of their Father / Guardian to join the Course.
- Candidates would be required to submit 'No Objection Certificate' from the Employer if employed.
- Not withstanding any thing to the contrary contained anywhere in the ordinances of the university, no scrutiny / revaluation of the answer sheet shall be allowed on any ground.
- The Roll Number of only Provisionally Selected Candidates shall be displayed on the websites of IMS, (www.imsbhu.nic.in) and BHU (www.bhu.ac.in) and also on notice board of Institute of Medical Sciences, and office of the PRO, BHU.
- They will also be informed individually through Registered Post.
