What is SAT Test?
SAT stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test. It is a paper-based standardized test required for application to most of the colleges and universities situated in the US. High SAT scores will increase your chances of securing admission. You may also get scholarship offers.

Why it is taken?
SAT is taken by those high school students who wish to pursue their higher education in the US. SAT scores also determine a student's eligibility to receive academic scholarships.

What are the main types of SAT test?
SAT is of two types.
1. SAT I and
2. SAT II (Subject Test)

What are the content and the format of the test?
SAT I

The SAT I tests a student's skills in
(i) critical reading
(ii) mathematics
(iii) writing

SAT tests students academic skills which are developed over the years spent in school.

The Critical Reading	The SAT I contains three critical reading sections: Reading comprehension of 25 min Sentence completions of 25 min and Paragraph-length critical reading 20 min. Reading comprehension test consists of a lot of passages followed by questions to be answered using the information given in the passages. Sentence completion problems will require filling in the blanks with appropriate word.
Math section	The SAT contains three Math sections: (i) Algebra and functions of 25 min (ii) Geometry Statistics of 20 min (iii) Probability and Data analysis of 20 min There will be 54 questions in all. 44 of them are multiple-choice. For the remaining ten questions, you will have to find answers on your own.
The Writing	The SAT writing has three sections: (i) Essay section of 25 min, (ii) Multiple choice sections lasting 25 minutes and 10 minutes. The SAT writing sections will assess your ability to improve writing samples, identify writing errors, and produce your own clear, coherent essay.

SAT II
Subject Tests measure your knowledge and skills in particular subject areas, and your ability to apply that knowledge.

The SAT Subject Tests are the only national admissions tests that give you the opportunity to show hold of content in the specific subjects, such as English, history, mathematics, science, foreign languages and various other subjects.

Many colleges use the Subject Tests for admission, for course placement, and to advise students about course selection. Some colleges specify the Subject Tests that they require for admission or placement; others allow applicants to choose which tests to take. These tests give you and colleges a very reliable measure of how prepared you are for college-level work in particular subjects. Used in combination with other background information, they provide a dependable measure of your academic achievement and are a good predictor of future college performance in specific subject areas.

What does SAT II test?
Subject Tests (formerly SAT II: Subject Tests) measure your knowledge and skills in particular subject areas, and your ability to apply that knowledge.

What is the pattern of the test?
SAT consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Each section receives a score on the scale of 200–800. All scores are multiples of 10. Total scores are calculated by adding up scores of the three sections. Each major section is divided into three parts. There are 10 sub-sections, including an additional 25-minute experimental or "equating" section that may be in any of the three major sections. The experimental section is used to normalize questions for future administrations of the SAT and does not count toward the final score

What is the duration of the SAT I test?
The test takes 3 hours and 45 minutes overall. That includes three critical reading sections, three math sections, three writing sections including an essay section, and an experimental section that may resemble any of the aforementioned sections
Every test last nearly 25 minutes.

What is the duration of the SAT II test?
All Subject Tests are one-hour, multiple-choice tests. However, some of these tests have unique formats


Where it is taken and for how many times it is taken in a year?

The SAT is offered seven times a year in the United States ie. in October, November, December, January, March (or April, alternating), May, and June.

The test is typically offered on the first Saturday of the month for the November, December, May, and June administrations.

In other countries, the SAT is offered on the same dates as in the United States except for the first spring test date (i.e., March or April), which is not offered.

Candidates may either take the SAT Reasoning Test or up to three SAT Subject Tests on any given test date, except the first spring test date, when only the SAT Reasoning Test is offered.


Note:-Candidates whose religious beliefs prevent them from taking the test on a Saturday may request to take the test on the following Sunday, except for the October test date in which the Sunday test date is eight days after the main test offering. Such requests must be made at the time of registration and are subject to denial.

Students with verifiable disabilities, including physical and learning disabilities, are eligible to take the SAT with accommodations. The standard time increase for students requiring additional time due to learning disabilities is 50%.

How to register for the SAT test?
Candidates wishing to take the test may register online at the College Board's website, by mail, or by telephone, at least three weeks before the test date.

What is the fee of taking test?
The SAT Reasoning Test costs $45 ($71 International).

Subject tests, students pay a $20 Basic Registration Fee and $9 per test (except for language tests with listening, which cost $20 each).
