KSET - Karnataka State Eligibility Test


KSET 2014 - Karnataka State Eligibility Test for Lectureship acronym as KSET is conducted by University of Mysore in the state of Karnataka for determining the eligibility for Lecturer ship in various Universities, Colleges and Institutions of Higher education in Karnataka State only.

However, those candidates, who have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedures for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of K-SET for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers or equivalent position in Universities / Colleges / Institutions".

 

KSET Eligibility

Educational Qualification

The aspiring candidate must have Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from an institution recognized by U.G.C. with at least 55% (50% Candidates belonging Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category) marks.

Candidates who have appeared OR are appearing at the qualifying Master's Degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test.

However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master's Degree examination or equivalent with prescribed eligible % of marks

Important: Such candidates must complete their Master's Degree examination within two years from the date of K-SET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

The Ph.D. Degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5 % in aggregate marks (i.e. from 55 to 50%) for appearing for K-SET. However Candidates shall appear to the K-SET in the subject of their post-graduation only.

Note: Candidates possessing post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s), should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master's Degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi

Age limits:


There is no upper age limit to apply for K-SET Lectureship.

 

KSET Syllabus

KSET will consist of questions from the relevant subjects on the pattern of the UGC-NET.

Syllabus for Paper I

 Paper I will be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50) questions. In the event of candidate attempting more than fifty (50) questions, the first fifty (50) questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Syllabus for Paper II

Paper II shall consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each paper will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each.

Syllabus for Paper III

Paper III shall consist of questions based on the subjects selected by the candidate. As per the revised guidelines effective form June 2010 by the UGC, New Delhi.

 

KSET Pattern

K-SET exam consists of two session containing three papers i.e Paper I, Paper II and Paper III which will be evaluated only if a candidate secure minimum prescribed marks in Paper I and Paper II.

Important

For visually handicapped (VH) candidates 30 minutes extra time will be provided separately for Paper-I and Paper-II.

For Paper-III, 45 minutes extra time shall be provided.

VH candidates will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate on a written request at least 15 days before the date of examination to the Nodal officer of the respective test center opted by the candidate.

Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a position to write in their own handwriting can also avail these services.However extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped candidates.

 

How to apply for Karnataka State Eligibility Test?

Aspiring candidates can apply for KSET online only. Candidates are supposed to follow following steps to apply online through the link www.kset.uni-mysore.ac.in

Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the following the following essential documents

  • Scanned passport (pp) size photograph in JPEG format(4.5 cm X 3.5 cm) should be less then 300kb,
  • Copy of Bank Challan (fee receipt).

The candidates can download the Bank Challan Proforma from the  official website of K-SET and then deposit the requisite test fee in any branch of State Bank of Mysore along with the bank charges (bank commission) of Rs.20.

After successful submission, the candidate should take printout of online Application Form (Two copies), Attendance Slip (one copy) and Admission Card (one copy) on separate A-4 size papers.

SC/ST/Category-1/PH/VH candidates must enclose the attested copy of certificate for the same. Category-IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB candidates mush enclose attested copy of the certificate

The Application (consisting of Two copies of printout of online application form, one copy Attendance Slip and one copy Admission card) along with required documents (Copies of caste certificates, self addressed stamped, Rs.10/- envelope) must reach the Nodal Officer, of respective Test Center opted by candidate.

Submission of Hard copy of the Application along with necessary documents is a ESSENTIAL. Hard copy of the Application received after stipulated date at the respective Test Centre will be rejected.

The cover of size (37 cm X 25 cm) containing Application Form should be super scribed "K-SET FOR LECTURESHIP, 2014". Candidates should mention their Roll Number, Subject and Category. Name and Address of the candidates should be written on the cover.

The candidate must affix his/her recent identical passport size photographs, at the places indicated, on the printout of Online Application Form and must sign across the photograph after it is affixed in such a way that a part of the signature spreads over the Application Form beyond the photograph. Besides, it should also be duly attested by the Head of the University Department/Principal of the College/Class-I Gazetted Officer with official seal.

Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through the detailed notification available at K-SET website (Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be rejected).

Enclosures to be sent with the application for KSET

  1. The candidates should send the following documents with hard copy of their online application form on separate A-4 size papers.

    • Application Form (two copies),
    • Attendance Slip (one copy) and
    • Admission Card (one copy).

  2. Copy of Bank Challan (K-SET center copy).
  3. Attested copies of SC/ST/Category-1/VH/PH, Visually Handicapped/ Physically Handicapped certificates as may be applicable.
  4. Attested copies of Category-IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB certificates.
  5. Attested copy of SSLC Marks card is a must for verification of name.
  6. In case there is a change of name at latter stage, enclose attested copy of the authenticated document.
  7. Attested copy of PG Degree marks card.
  8. One self addressed, stamped (with Rs. 10 stamp) envelope of 10" X 4" size.
