What is ICFAI Business School Aptitude Test?

ICFAI Business School Aptitude test known as IBSAT in common parlance is taken to get admission in two year campus-based MBA Program of the ICFAI University and one year residential Executive PG Program at Hyderabad. This PG programme is specially designed to help working professionals enhances their career prospects.

What is the eligibility for taking IBSAT exam?

Educational Qualification:-

To be eligible to take this test the candidate should hold any bachelor's degree of a recognized university with at least 50% marks. The students who are appearing for their final bachelor degree examination in the respective year are allowed to appear in IBSAT.

Note: - Further extension may be granted on the basis of the circumstances of the case. For that the applicants should apply separately, giving the schedule of their graduation examination. However the admission of applicants will remain provisional until they produce mark sheets and a degree certificate establishing their eligibility. The last date for submitting the proof of graduation is 1st October, of the admission year, failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled.

Work Experience:-

For executive PG programme they should have 3 years or more of executive level work experience after graduation as on 1st May the respective year.

Age Limit:-

Candidate should be more than 25 years as on 1st May of the respective year.

What is the pattern of the IBSAT exam?

IBSAT exam consist of following given steps:-

Step 1

The IBSAT which is for 2 hours duration is aimed to test the applicant's ability in:-

  1. Quantitative techniques
  2. Data interpretation
  3. Data adequacy
  4. Vocabulary
  5. Analytical reasoning and reading comprehension.

Step 2

All applicants are required to write an essay in English on a general topic not exceeding 400 words in 2 pages with in a time frame of 30 minutes immediately after the IBSAT test on the same day at the same Test Center. The applicant will be given 5 topics out of which one topic is to be chosen.

Important:-

  • The applicants who do not write the General Essay as required for what so ever reason will not be called for Interview.
  • However those applicants who submit GMAT Scores (in lieu of IBSAT) will be required to write the General Essay on the Interview Day at Hyderabad.

General essay test is taken to know the applicant's English writing skills, understanding of the topic and logical flow in presentation.

Step 3 (IBS selection)

General Knowledge Test

The shortlisted candidates will have to take a General Knowledge Test consisting of 100 multiple choice questions to be completed in 30 minutes on the day of the interview at Hyderabad.

This test is taken to known the applicants’ knowledge on current affairs and general awareness.

Micro Presentations

Each candidate has to make a presentation on a selected topic for 5-7 minutes. The list of topics will be provided in the selection kit.

Interview

The interview is the final stage of selection process. The Interview Panel will focus on testing the knowledge of the candidates on the topic presented in the micro presentation and understanding the attitude, aptitude and aspirations of the candidates.

How to apply for the IBSAT test and What is the fee for taking this exam?

Candidates interested in appearing for IBSAT 2009 can apply by any one of the following given methods.

a. IBSAT 2009 Online application

Aspiring candidates can apply online by filling up the Application Form available at website and make payment of Rs.1,100 towards the cost using Credit/Debit Card (Visa/MasterCard/Citibank Card) through secure internet payment gateway. Applicants applying through online should attach their scanned color photograph along with the Online Application.

The IBSAT Application Material will be sent to such applicants.

b. IBSAT 2009 Download of Application Form

Alternatively, applicants can download the Application Form from website, complete it and send it to:-

The Admissions Officer along with the demand draft of Rs.1,100 towards the cost (DD in favor of "IUCF A/c IBSAT" payable at Hyderabad).

The IBSAT Application Material will be sent to such applicants.

c. Applicants with GMATR Scores

GMATR scores are also accepted by IBS. The GMATR Code number of IBS is 7061. Applicants with GMATR score of 550 and above are exempted from appearing for IBSAT.

Applicants with GMATR scores have to download the Application Form from http://www.ibsat.org, complete it and send it along with the GMATR score report and a demand draft of Rs.1,100 towards the cost

Important: - It is mandatory for all the applicants to indicate their e-mail ID, as all important information relating to IBSAT will be intimated to the applicants by e-mail.

Similarly all applicants are required to send their letters/correspondence by e-mail only to: info@ibsat.org clearly indicating their names and Application Number of IBSAT 2009.

What are the test centers for taking the exam in India?

IBSAT is conducted at 123 test centers across India. The applicants can choose any one of the test center available for IBSAT. The list of all the 123 test centers is provided in the instructions for completing the OMR Form Brochure enclosed. However IBS Admissions Office reserves the right to add or delete a few test centers depending upon the situation. Therefore candidates are advised to confirm the same from the website http://www.ibsat.org.

Note: - Please note that requests for change of test center will not be entertained under normal circumstances. In the event of not having enough seats at the requested test center, applicants will be allotted the nearest alternative center.
