What is XAT?
After CAT, XAT is considered to be one of the most popular National levels Admission/entrance test among the MBA aspirants all over India conducted by Xavier Labour Research Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI). XAT score are also used by more than 60 other premier institutes of Management for Admission to their various courses.
What is the eligibility for taking XAT exam?
A three-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as eligible for Post-Graduate studies in Management.
What are the contents of the exam?
There are three sections (with an essay after the sections) in the XAT exams as given below:-
1.Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability
2.Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Data Interpretation
3.General Awareness Questions
What is the pattern of the Exam?
XAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers. The test is designed to measure a person’s general aptitudes as the following table indicates:

1. Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability 40 40
2. Quantitative Ability, Reasoning and Data Interpretation 40 50
3. General Awareness Questions 40 30
Total: 200 120
Essay Topic: Students are expected to write an essay of about 250-300 words in 20 minutes
Time given for the essay: 20 min
Marks for correct answer: +1
Marks for wrong answer: -1/3
When this exam is normally held?
Mat is usually conducted in January

XAT Bulletin & XLRI Prospectus can be obtained from XAT Office, XLRI Jamshedpur, 831001 and can also obtain from select branches of AXIS Bank on payment of Rs. 800/- (Rupees eight hundred only)
