About M.C.A. Entrance Exams 2010

MCA Entrance Examination are are those which are conducted on an All India basis and on Institute/University/College basis. MCA is a three-year (six semester) professional Master's Degree in computer science and Admission to this course is generally done through various MCA entrance tests.

MCA Entrance Examination Eligibility

All universities / institutes have their own eligibility conditions. But the following is general eligibility conditions for MCA entrance exam.

1.   The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and Some institutions / universities stipulate mathematics as a compulsory subject in 12th
OR
2.   The candidate should have BCA degree. Some institutions stipulate that the candidate should have studied Mathematics / Statistics as an optional subject during graduation.

3.   Some other institutions require from the candidates a minimum average of 60% at graduation (50% for SC/ST candidates) in subjects other than languages. Students appearing for the final semester or final-year Degree examination can also apply.

MCA Entrance Examination Syllabus and Pattern
  1. The syllabus of the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) entrance exams comprises Mental Ability, English Comprehension and Mathematics of 12th standard.
  2. While most of the MCA entrance tests have objective questions, some universities follow a mixed pattern of objective, short-answer, and long-answer types of questions.
  3. The selection to most of the colleges in India, is through the written test only But for some colleges like DU, IMT, Symbiosis (MPIT), there is an interview/GD for the candidates short-listed after the written test. The tests are generally of 2-3 hours duration
There are many types of MCA Entrance Examinations in India. These are -

1.  AIMCET - All India Entrance Of MCA

2.  NIMCET - National Level Entrance Test conducted by National Institutes of Technology

3.  JNU - Jawaharlal Nehru University MCA

4.  DU - Delhi University MCA

5.  IIT JAM - Joint Admission Test

6.  GGSIPU CET - Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University - Common Entrance Test
