M.B.B.S. passed or its equivalent qualification from a University/ Institute recognized by Medical Council of India with not more than one attempt made during MBBS course. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Tribes with up to two attempts during MBBS career will be eligible.
Must have either completed or due to complete one year internship (rotatory house man ship) training by 30th June/31st December for July and January session respectively.
Must be registered with Central /State Medical Registration Council.
For all DM courses except for DM (Clinical Pharmacology) Course
MD degree in Medicine or Paediatrics or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India, except as otherwise indicated.

How to apply for the PGIMER Entrance Exam?
Candidates aspiring to appear in PGI Entrance Exam, can apply in the form downloadable (for Sr.No.1 to 4) at http://pgimer.nic.in together with requisite fee by Demand Draft in the name Director, PGI.
The prescribed application forms along with prospectus (Brochure of Information) are also available from the office either personally on payment of Rs.500 for General / OBC / OPH category and Rs.400 for SC / ST at the counter (Kairon Block, Room No.309) form 10.30 AM to 12.30 P.M. and from 2.30 PM to 3.30 PM on all working days except Saturdays (On Saturdays, forms will be available form 10.30 AM to 12.00 Noon) OR
By post for which the request must be accompanied With a self addressed thick envelope of size 24 X 15 cm bearing postage Stamp of Rs.30 and Bank Draft Preferably from any SBI Branch payable at SBI Medical Institute Branch (Code NO.1524) Chandigarh for General / OBC / PH Rs.500 and for SC / ST Rs. 400 (including category) drawn in favour of the Director, PGI Chandigarh.
Note: Prospectus for D.M / M.Ch will be available for Rs.500 only as there is no reservation for the same.
Some Important instructions for filling up of the application form:
Applications for admission to the course are required to be submitted on the prescribed form enclosed with this prospectus.
The application, complete in all respects accompanied with all the relevant documents should reach, on or before the closing date.

The applications received after the closing date will not be considered and no correspondence will be entertained.
The fact that application form has been supplied on a certain date-will not be accepted as an excuse for the late submission of the application.
The supply of application form does not ipsofacto make the recipient eligible for admission to the selection tests.
Applications on forms other than prescribed for the purpose will not entertained. If any candidate gets an application form for a course different from the one asked for, he/she may submit the same application before the closing date. The application will be treated as an advance copy. The application on the prescribed form will be obtained later.
PGIMER Entrance Exam Syllabus
The syllabus for PGIMER Entrance Exam for Master’s Degree will consist of subject studied in the MBBS by the candidates.
PGIMER Entrance Exam Pattern
Pattern for entrance test for Master’s Degree course:
PGIMER entrance test for selection to Master’s Degree course consists of a theory paper carrying 100 marks consisting of 250 multiple choice question (MCQs) with five alternative each and single/ multiple correct responses. Negative marks will be given for incorrect responses marked correct.
Duration of the examination is three hours. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall before 1 ½ hours.

Merit list based on the percentile obtained by the candidates in the theory examination will be prepared for each category of candidates.
Candidates of various categories who secure percentile in the theory as mentioned against each category will qualify for admission:
Open (General) and Sponsored/Deputed : 55th percentile
SC/ST, Rural Area & Foreign Nationals : 50th percentile
