About Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology

Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering & Technology was established in the the year 2001 at Kalady, Kerala. The College is run by Adi Sankara Trust, a registered Trust established with the blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sankaracharya Mahaswamikal of Sringeri Sarada Peetham. It is named after Adi Shankara who was a was an Indian philosopher who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta, a sub-school of Vedanta. The College is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and offers under-graduate courses approved by AICTE.

Location - The College is located at Sankar Nagar, 4 kms north of the birth place of Adi Sankara and about 1km from Mattoor Jn. enroute Angamaly - Perumbavoor M.C. Road. The Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is a stones throw away from the institute. The nearest railway station is at Angamaly, which is about 7 kms from the College.

Facilities

Hostel Facility - Arrangements have been made to provide good Hostel facility for both boys and girls with strict overall supervision of the management. The College has a Men's Hostel inside the campus that has the provision for accommodating around 50 students. As of now, during the development stage, the College also provides accommodation outside the campus for girls and boys. A refined Canteen is also provided  in a clean and hygienic environment.

Library
- The College has a full fledged air-conditioned Library with a collection of over 15,000 books in 3,000 titles and all the prominent journals and newspapers. The books in the reference section provide a deeper insight into the various subjects. The College also has a Book Bank constituted by the PTA. Steps are being taken to start IEEE library.

Workshops and Laboratories - Every Department has it's own Laboratory equipped with latest equipments which provide a practical experience to the students which comes into use once one enters his / her preferred profession.

Computer and Internet - Realising the need for learning round the clock the department provides a campus wide network integrated with 1 Mbps broad band Internet access for 24 hours. Courses like data structures, compiler design, mobile computing, computer graphics, artificial intelligence etc are also offered to provide case concepts of efficient acquisition, storage & retrieval of data and design of algorithms.

Personality Development Programmes - The Programme consist of a series of workshops on personality development, SWOT analysis, sessions on group discussion etc.

Features:

  • Training on Spoken English - This Programme includes coaching in communicative English by experts which has been arranged with the foresight of improving the communication skills of the students.    
  • Mind Power Development - Yoga and meditation classes are conducted for the interested students by eminent personalities from the respective fields.
  • Technical Association - Technical Association that exists in each branch arranges Orientation Lectures and Technical Seminars (at least two each per semester) by experts from industries and other renowned educational institutions to mould competent professionals and to accelerate them in their pursuit for professional excellence. The Association also organises industrial visit to create technical awareness in students.

Physical Health Department - The College provides adequate physical training facilities for both boys and girls. The College Campus is spread oven as area of about 20 hectares and has enough room for cricket, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, badminton and Athletics. The Department organizes various athletic events & games and college team has already won prizes in various inter-collegiate tournaments.

Associations & Clubs - The College encourages and conducts various extra-curricular activities which inculcate competitive spirit. Students are grouped into four houses and inter-house competitions are held periodically.

Some of the Associations & Clubs:

  • Arts Club - The Arts Club is involved in developing the innate talents of the students and organizes various cultural programmes. It also imparts training and confidence for students to participate in various intercollegiate events. The Arts Club conducts an arts festival, which is a cultural extravagance that stages more than fifty events. A Music Club, Dance Club, and Drama Club also functions under the auspices of the Arts Club.
  • Nature Club - The Club creates awareness in students on various environmental issues and take initiatives to develop love and commitment for the Mother Earth by conducting informative seminars and colloquiums.
  • Debate Club - The Club aims at evaluating and developing the logical and comprehensive abilities, oratory skills and memory power. The Club organizes debates, quiz competitions, etc. to keep the students informed about the latest trends in science, business and technology.
  • Arts & Literary Club - The Club conducts competitions in various literary events like poetry writing, essay writing etc. and is dedicated to develop the inherent talent and creativity.
