About International School of Business and Media - ISB&M Kolkata

International School Of Business And Media was founded in 2000. The Kolkata campus was setup in 2004. ISB&M has grown rapidly in last few years and is currently located in four cities - Kolkata, Noida, Bangalore and Pune. Over 3000 alumni are performing exceedingly well in different parts of the country and abroad as well. A high standard of education and training is maintained and continuously strives to create a learning environment in order to promote great career. ISB&M (A Division of ISB&M Training Pvt. Ltd.) offers job-oriented and market-driven post-graduate training programmes, leading to employment through ISB&M’s Campus Recruitment Programme. ISB&M’s training courses are highly accepted and acknowledged by industry for entry level employment. ISB&M’s post-graduate training is contemporary and supported by highly accomplished faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure. ISB&M’s training programmes are autonomous in nature and directed towards employability, training, and not an educational degree. Therefore, it can not be used for higher education in India. All the placement activities of the students are done through ISB&M’S Placement Cell. ISB&M’s Placement Cell makes every possible effort to ensure that all students pass out with good job offer.  The Post-Graduate Programmes provides the students with the knowledge and analytical tools to evaluate and make strategic decisions in an increasingly complex corporate environment. The curriculum provides a judicious mix of academics and real-life industry experience in grooming the students to be successful in their professional career. All programmes are offered as General Management Level and Specialised Management Level programmes. Students enrol for General Management Level. At the end of the General Management Level, students can assess their learning need and decide to enrol for Specialized Management Level. Students who complete Specialized Management Level can seek final placement assistance. At the end of the General Management Level, ISB&M’s placement cell will assist student for internship training or lower end entry level jobs.

Teaching Methodology - The teaching methodology is bench marked with global perspective to meet challenges of the competitive business environment. Students, imbibe a holistic perspective and to enhance their employability. There are modules on business communication, industry analysis and cross cultural etiquette. At ISB&M, multiple teaching methods like case analysis, group projects, business simulation games, assignments, lectures and syndicates form the core of the learning process.

Live Assignments - While in-class learning strengthens conceptual knowledge, practical learning equips students with the aptitude to work effectively. Students are required to take up live projects from industry.

Case Study Approach
- At ISB&M, besides regular lectures and interactive sessions, case studies are used as a powerful tool in the learning process. This gives students the opportunity to study real life scenarios.

Group Discussions
- Discussing ideas in a group is one of the best ways to solve the problem and find valuable solutions to business issues. It is imperative to provide an open forum for discussion where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas.

Group Projects
- Students are required to take up live projects from industry. They analyse business issues, learn to develop options and in the process they develop action plans, professional attitude, skills and discipline. This is facilitated through groups of students coming together for research, analysis of issues, presentations, corporate visits etc. This equips the students to handle group dynamics and inter-personal relationships effectively.

Business Simulation Games
- Business games, simulations, role plays etc. form integral part of ISB&M's curriculum. This makes students more competent and confident to handle similar situations in the competitive business environment.

Syndicates
- Ability to work as part of large teams is also seen as essential to the development of students. To imbibe this ability, students are frequently divided into 15-20 member teams or syndicates to work on research issues.

Events and Programmes - ISB&M’s learning program requires students to actively work on various events and life style related programmes. These programmes are entirely managed by students. Students learn peer leadership, planning, resource management and new career value system.

Mentoring and Career Counselling - Counselling every student of ISB&M will be assigned to G.G.T (Guide, Guardian cum Tutor) who will assist and guide the student in career planning, progress monitoring and problem solving related to the programme. The School attaches great importance to the need for the process of mentoring and suitable guidelines will be published separately.

Industry Interface - ISB&M holds various events, which play a vital role in facilitating such industry interface. ISB&M convenes an annual 2-day HR Conference, where industry leaders are invited to discuss and debate on emerging trends in Human Resources. The HR Conference is an initiative of the students and an example of its student-driven culture. The students handle the entire event including sponsorships, speakers, invitations, delegate participation, souvenir etc.

Consultancy Programmes - The institute offers consultancy services ranging from training, OD Interventions, Quality Systems, Organizational Re-engineering, Process Management, Cost Management to research and surveys. Area of Consulting include Human Resources Management, Operations & Total Quality Management and Marketing.

E-Week - To develop and nurture an entrepreneur in every individual is the main motive behind E-week. “Go Green” implied prosperity but also sustainability and clean environment around everyone. The event comprised of: Photography, Logo Making, Collage Making, Poster Making, Documentary Film-Making, Business Challenge and Green Quiz. Each event had special learning in them which in turn provides a good experience in developing skills, discovering, participating and organizing the event.
 
Management Development Programmes (MDP) - The changing needs and requirements of the current business scenario make it imperative to keep one updated with new skill sets and perspectives. To meet the changing needs and demand, MDPs help executives to gear themselves to meet the organizational challenges. The focus is on understanding the business issues, inter-functional coordination and group learning. To achieve this a unique methodology has been adopted wherein knowledge and learning is imparted through simulation such as case studies, business games, role plays and other modern tools of interactive learning. Placements - Students enrolled for ISB&M autonomous certification Programme are well equipped for employment. Employability-oriented Programme prepares them for corporate career. All students enrolled the programme are eligible for Campus Recruitment Programme. ISB&M Campus recruitment is led and managed by faculty with support of Placement Cell. Some of the employers are American Express, Axis Bank Ltd., Bank of Baroda, Bajaj Allianz, General Insurance etc.
