About Indus Business Academy - IBA

Indian Business Academy - Bangalore, launched its academic activities in July 2001. It is one of the largest B-Schools in Bengaluru. IBA was conceptualized in the city of Bengaluru in late nineties.  It provides a world-class infrastructure in a 8.5-acre (34,398 Sq.Mts) lush-green land. The curriculum at IBA is rigorous and constantly upgraded based on corporates’ requirement and is in tune with the latest case studies and real time experiences. Learning at IBA is rooted in the 3 D model of Discussion, Dialogue and Discourse. The programmes are challenging and comprehensive. They are also flexible and integrate co-curricular activities. The PGDBM programme is divided into 6 trimesters stretching over a two year period. The programme begins with a refreshing of fundamental management concepts. In the second and third trimesters, the students are oriented to areas of specialisations such as Marketing, HR, IT and Finance, along with introduction. These clubs actively organize learning events, seminars guest lectures to keep the club members abreast with latest trends in corporate and academia. IBA (which is more popular as ‘Indiapura’ because of students from all the communities, backgrounds and almost 21 states) has an active Cultural club which celebrates prominent festivals like Navratri, Christmas, Ramjan, Onam, Paryushan Parva, Durga Pooja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali to name a few. Over 200 corporates visit IBA campus every year leading to 100% Quality placement. Due to consistent performance of IBA Alumni in corporates, there has been a significant increase in number of international placements every year.

Location - It is located in the most happening Southern part - the Knowledge and IT Corridor of Bengaluru, it catalyses the industry interface and academic inflow. The setting also charges the emotional quotient of the students, thanks to the proximity to the world famous AOL Centre.

Facilities

Library - The library subscribes to many leading management journals such as Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review, etc. Library has a large number of select reference books on management and other related areas. The library also has a vast collection of Case studies selected from leading journals and research papers. A separate Audio/Video media room with DVD player is provided in the library for students to explore various aspects of management. Students have the option of either utilising the audio/visual material stocked in the library or bring in material from other sources. IBA has institutional memberships with premier libraries such as The British Council Library and Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru; thereby allowing expanded access to resources.

Class Rooms - IBA has Theatre Style Class Rooms with DLP Projector, multimedia enabled lecture facilities, and conventional classrooms for regular tutorial workshops.

l.T Facilities - Stable and high-speed connectivity to the Internet ensures speedy access and the campus is completely connected with WiFi network. A laptop is compulsory for all the students. IBA has a State-of-the-art facility for students where they can access, download, research, prepare notes and presentation material through databases in the digital libraries subscribed by IBA. This is in line with the facilities provided by International Business Schools. The IT facilities include Microsoft Campus agreement for all the Laptops carried by Faculty, staff and students. Other facilities include 1. 2 Mbps Leased line, 1:1 Symetric Internet connectivity - 24 x 7, Prowess (CMIE) - Corporate database, Economic Intelligence Service (EIS), Industry Analysis Service (IAS), EBSCO (database) Journals & Books Online, Insight (Corporate database), SPSS - used for data mining and database analysis, market and survey research, Microsoft Publisher, Visio Pro, One Note, Tally Gold 6.3 (Multi User), Microsoft Project etc.

Residential Facilities - IBA provide in-campus exclusive residential facilities for boys and girls with round-the-clock security. The campuses have various options for residents like double rooms, triple rooms, single rooms with attached and common bathrooms.

Features of the Facilities:

  1. The first year students are provided with twin/triple occupancy and second year students are given single occupancy (on first come first serve basis). Functionally furnished, each room has a cot, study desk with chair and a built-in wardrobe.
  2. Facilities like Laundry, STD / ISD, General store have also been provided.
  3. Vegetarian Mess adjacent to the residences serves hygienic food to its residents. Vegetarian break-fast, lunch and dinner on an annual subscription basis is provided. Accommodation for participants who do short term MDP/training program is provided in the campus.
  4. For visitors and parents, a separate furnished guest house is provided within the campus on nominal charges, on prior request.
  5. The cafeteria adjacent to the residences has hygienic cooking, serving and eating facilities. Vegetarian breakfast, lunch and dinner on a annual subscription basis is provided.
  6. Creating facilities for sports and recreation is in progress, which will include courts for basket ball, volley ball, tennis and a gym.
  7. Utilities such as stationery, books, and daily-need consumables are available in the campus store.

Scholarships - Various Scholarships are as follows:

  • Chairman's Award: "Best Outgoing Student" - A sum of 15,000/- is given to one candidate.
  • CEO's Award: "Best Outgoing Student in Academics" - A sum of 10,000/- is given to one candidate.
  • Dr. Anil Agarwal memorial Scholarship - A sum of 25,000/- is given to one candidate.
  • Merit cum Means Scholarship - A sum of 10,000/- each is given to 5 candidates.
  • Dean's Award - For 1st year students - A sum of  4,000/- is given to 2 students each Trimester.
  • CEO's Award constituted by IBA, for IInd year students - A sum of 4,000/- each is given to 2 students each Trimester.
  • Corporate Scholarships - A sum of  10,000/- each is given to 2 students.

Loans - Our Current and previous batch students have already availed educational loans from various nationalized banks like HDFC, SBI, SBP, United Bank Of India, Corporation Bank, Indian Bank, The South Indian Bank, Canara Bank, Vijaya Bank, UTI Bank, UCO Bank, Punjab National Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce and Syndicate Bank. IBA has officially tied up with HDFC for educational loans.

Sports Facilities - Recreational facilities such as tennis court, basketball court, volleyball, gym, health centre, table tennis and other indoor games are offered.

Art of Living - The Art of Living Basic Course is the part of the PGPM. It helps the students to reduce stress, manage work-load and control anxiety. It earmarks the way to live with a positive attitude towards life. It is a great source of personality development and peaceful living.

Banking Facility - There is an Axis Bank ATM in the campus.

Student Clubs - Various Clubs are as follows:

  1. 'BARCODES' The Retail Club - Barcodes are sets of lines of different sizes which give all the details about the product to POS system reader. They look alike on face but store variety of information. Our logo "Barcode" has 39 lines of different sizes. These lines signify the First Batch of students for PGPRM. This Logo signifies the Purpose of the club which is "to bring all the people with a common aim to be a retailer together".
  2. Cosmos - The COSMOS (Business Quiz) Club of IBA, Bangalore, encourages the spirit of quizzing and creates a thirst for knowledge. It prepares teams for participation in various competitions and conducts regular events which culminate in the year end championships called Blitzkrieg.
  3. Hunterz Ignite - The Marketing Club at Indian Business Academy is a student oriented club which aims to help its members gain valuable insights into marketing, beyond the horizons of textbooks. Objective of the Hunterz Ignite is to provide learning with fun by conducting games and events that are based on the fundamental concepts of marketing, brand management, marketing strategies and sales and distribution.
  4. Infinit IT - Infinit aims to provide comprehensive knowledge through student driven activities and enhance skills related to information technology management. The club focuses on presentations, quizzes, management games and student - industry interaction through guest lectures & industrial visits.
  5. Navigator - Navigator, the Finance Club at IBA holds regular meetings that strengthen the students' knowledge in the fields of Capital Markets, Securities and Derivatives etc. Presentations have been conducted on topics such as Economic Fundamentals, Past & Present Foreign Exchange arrangements, Foreign Direct Investment, etc. among others. A series of presentations on Financial Markets, Equity Markets and Debt & Money Markets are also held.
  6. OM - The Operations Management club - It conducts Aptitude tests, Chess competition, Puzzle games, Guest lectures, Industrial visits etc.
  7. Dolphins - The Communication Club is a forum for giving students opportunities to practice both prepared and impromptu talks and receive constructive feedback. The training sessions, the meetings give students an easy, open way to get in front of people.

Corporate Experience - The corporate Project Assignments, Case Studies, Presentations, Seminars, Symposia and Research work that they are subjected to do, hone their skills, giving them the requisite confidence. The careful blend of the Corporate Project Assignment with the Final Placement is a continuous activity at IBA. The IBA students are privileged, since they are guided by leading HRD Consultants who have a large and varied clientèle as part of their consultancy practice. The placement division of IBA constantly monitors the market needs and shifts, studies the trends and preferences in the industry and orients the students accordingly through a process of functional, managerial, and behavioural skill development techniques. IBA has a strong interface with the industry through representations that form the core of IBA's Governing Council. An effective networking for this objective is already in place, which is continually expanding geographically.

Placements - At IBA placement is an activity, which commences from the very first day. An established placement office with a dedicated team of placement officers constantly promote students among premier organizations such as transnational companies, management consulting companies, software firms, banks, merchant bankers and so on. The Executive education and consulting division provides education and management consulting to companies. It also helps in building awareness about the PGPM among the client organizations and corporate executives. The Research Project wherein students spend considerable amount of time in an organization affords interactive sampling by both organizations and students, and exploration of employment opportunities thereof. Regular guest lectures on specific functional topic areas by industry leaders whilst enhancing the learning process also offers an opportunity for interaction between students and key decision makers in organizations leading to possible future placement.
