Leather Goods Maker or Footwear Management is a leather goods making vocational trade. The duration of trade is one year with two semesters of six months each. During the trade, students are introduced to tactics like making and repairing leather articles such as handbags, wallets, gloves, belts, harnesses and saddlery; select suitable types and grades of leather; draw patterns; cut leather to size and shape using special cutting machines, etc. Trade opens many careers in leather industry in different forms. Students can also go for higher degree courses.

Hides and Skins-their structure and quality. Stretch in skins-its extent and direction. Tanning process-Pre tanning and Post tanning.   • Students should be able to enjoy practical and manual work; good hand-eye coordination and able to perform detailed work.
  • They should be known of common things like attaching buckles, eyelets and metal decorations, and decorative patterns; finishing products with stain, dye, polish or coats of lacquer.
  • They should also possess skills like hand-eye coordination, organisation skills, problem solving skills, strong attention to detail and time management.
