Shridevi Polytechnic is a Non Minority, Self Financed technical education institute. Shridevi Polytechnic Institute is amongst the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and research. It was established in the year 2009 by its founder Dr. Mr. Hulinayakar M.B.B.S., MS who is a philanthropist. He founded Shridevi Charitable Trust in 2001-2002 and is also its trustee. The trust manages the affairs of Shridevi Polytechnic, Sira. Sridevi Polytechnic is affiliated to Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka, and Bangalore and affiliated to All India council for Technical Education (AICTE)/DTE/GOK. Vide F.NO.770-53-268/SWRO/2009 dated 17th July 2009. The institution has received ISO 9001-2008 Certification owing to its quality education. The institute follows Semester system of examination.

Shridevi Polytechnic: Admission

Admissions start from Last week of April to First Week of May (as of 2013)

Eligibility:

• Students should have passed Karnataka SSLC or equivalent examination and have obtained a minimum of 35% marks each in Math’s and Science subjects
• Candidates other than Karnataka SSLC have to produce eligibility certificates obtained from the Secretary, Board of Technical Examinations, Bangalore at the time of admission

The Even Semester starts from February to July

Hostels - The institution runs three hostels - Boys' Hostel, International Hostel and Girls' Hostel. The hostel is run on not-for-profit basis. All rooms of the hostels are built spaciously, provided with all necessary amenities including wifi, purified water, meals etc.

E-Classrooms - All the classrooms are spacious, well-ventilated and fully furnished. They are equipped with electronic gadgets like OHP / slide projectors, LCD and PA system to make them fully laden electronic classrooms.

Library - The library is centrally computerized and Bar-coding system is applied to each issue and return. It has a large collection of Text Books, Encyclopaedias, Reference Books and General Books of education y. It subscribes to a large number of Journals, Periodicals and national dailies. It has a seating capacity of about 450 members. There is a reading room facility for both staff and students.

Transport - The institution runs several of its own buses to and from Tumkur city for its students and staff.

Adventure Learning Program – The Adventure Club organizes tours to various historic places, trekking regions, rappelling, paragliding spots, valley crossing, wild life observation etc. During these programs, students get to learn community living and group activities. The experiences that they have here manifests in the importance of unity and team work.

Parent Conventions – The polytechnic organise periodical conventions with the participation of teachers, parents, and students. This is done as student development is a collaborative effort of teacher-parent-student trio.

Student Insurance - Group Insurance of students for Rs.1, 00,000/- is insured for all the students. If a student is met with an accident, for permanent disability 80% and Hospitalization 20% amount will be paid by the insurance company.

Canteen - The Shridevi campus has high class canteen facility with subsidised food items.

Scholarships - Scholarships will be provided for the students who secure highest marks in the examinations and also who secure 100% attendance.

Industrial Visits - Educative and enlightening tours are regularly organized for the students to provide an invaluable exposure to the students on several practical aspects of the industry, its functionality, and many other elements which can be understood only by practical experience.

Competitive Examination Cell - This is an effort to prepare the interested students to take up various competitive examinations like GATE, UPSC, MPSC, GRE and TOEFL. This program enjoys the privilege of a separate library and reading room to give a more serious dimension to this program.

Training & Placement – The placement cell is involved in not only training students for placements but also in organizing campus recruitments. It does this through interviews, special lecturers, workshops, group discussions, personality development programmes.

Medical Facilities - Doctors are available from 4- 6 pm in the boys and girls hostel for the clinical check-ups. The trust owns a hospital which provides 24 hours medical service and students can the avail the medical facilities.

NSS - The institute has NSS unit of 100 volunteers who are motivated and oriented to work towards social services like blood donation camp, plantation programmes, health awareness camps, literacy awareness camp, etc.

Cultural Activities - The institute encourages the students to exploring their hidden artistic talents by providing platforms like “SINCHANA”, a cultural forum to provide a showcase for poetry, paining, sculptures, written articles, fine arts, etc. “Shirustav” the annual cultural and sports festival provides a stage for activities like drama, dances, music, arts etc.,

Seminar Hall – The institute has a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 300. It is equipped with video camera, slide projector, OHP, LCD projectors, PA system, ideal lighting, etc. It is regularly used for placement sessions, meetings, workshops, guest lectures, academic presentations etc.

Sports Facilities - The college campus is equipped with several international quality sports facilities and fitness centres to promote physical fitness among the students and faculty. Ample opportunities are provided for the students to take part in all indoor and outdoor sports activities. The Institution has facilities for playing, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Foot Ball and Cricket. Inter-College tournaments, Inter-Branch matches and Athletic Meets take place regularly and the institute sports team has bagged several medallions and trophies in inter collegiate and university level sports competitions.

Gymnasium – It is not enough if the intellect alone is trained, the body also needs training. Keeping this in mind the institute provides unlimited access to extensive aerobics and gym programme with varied classes to suit all tastes and fitness levels.

Uninterrupted Power Supply The institute has provision for providing uninterrupted power supply to all the offices and facilities during times of power shut down.
