Importance and Responsibilities attached with the Profession of a Model
With the spreading of the mass media in the form of print, electronics and internet to every corner of the world and increase in the consumerism with the developing of the economies throughout the world. There is cut throat competitions in the top consumer brands of the world to reach the masses through these ways. Here lies the base for the demand of the models – projected super human beings perfect in everything whether it is brain or the beauty- A model can be anybody who has the appeal to attract the people towards itself by way of his physical appearance, intelligence, voice, presentation or his deeds in a particular area. Model can be any body from a 2 year kid on a parlay G pack to a 75 years old man of MDH masala pack. But even these personalities who have something to present have to be made presentable and it is done by specialized courses .Although this seems to be a glamorous field and it indeed is, but there is a lot of hard work behind it. A model becomes a cult figure in the masses once it becomes famous. Masses start believing in him and the products and services endorsed by him. Thus it becomes the responsibility of a Model that as far as possible he should be fair in his presentation and endorsements. To some extent it is agreeable that a Model is a professional and he has to present or endorse whatever is shown or asked to him. But a Model should not forget his responsibility towards the society given the fact that he is being followed and believed by the masses just because of his cult figure. As far as Modeling as a career is concerned with the globalization and expansion of the trade activities along with the culture of multinational companies widely spreading all over the world it has become the norm of the day. Its importance in every field cannot be ignored now a day. Like every other so called cherished profession this is also providing a lot of opportunities to show their talent and earn respect and money to the younger generation throughout the world now.
To be a Model one has to be really dedicated and hardworking. For this one should have the capacity to work hard with commitment and honesty. The job requires a lot of hard work, alertness of mind and adaptability to follow difficult time schedules.

Eligibility to be a Model
1. Educational Qualification
Although to be educated is a positive point but as such there is no such specific qualification required to be in this profession
2. Age
There is no restriction with regard to the age of the aspirant one can be a 10 days old infant or a century old human being to be a model
3. Desirable Characteristics
Although nothing is compulsory for this profession yet there are some attributes that can help one to enter this career with a little ease. These attributes are:
(i) a good and healthy complexion, and shinny and smooth hair.
(ii)Models should be tall, like for a man, height should be 6' or 6' plus and he should be muscular.
(iii)Above all these attributes being photogenic is the most important quality for a model.
Apart from this good knowledge of acting, camera friendly attitude and a great amount of self confidence will reward success in this profession. They must also be open to criticism and improvement in their personality and attitude.
Process to be a Model
To be a Model one has to follow the below given steps:-
Step 1
Although this is such a profession in which one gets on job training and there is no such formal training format for being a model yet one can join short term training courses running by some top models of yester years in some big cities like Delhi and Mumbai for honing their skills to some extent. After getting the requisite training about how to care your beauty, make-up, hair styling, diet and exercise and , how to walk and carry yourself elegantly while doing any assignment. These training programs also include guidance on how to make a contract and other technicalities. Guidance on making a portfolio also forms a part of such training programs.
Step 2
For making an entry into the profession of a model is to prepare a portfolio –a set of photographs taken by some professional photographer. These specially taken photographs can be shown to an agency, providing suitable models according to requirements, or a fashion designer.
Another way to enter into this career is to apply for the contests sponsored by magazines, TV channels, private promoters, cloth manufactures, cosmetic companies etc and participating in beauty pageants.
Career options and monetary remunerations
Once a successful model there are so many other opportunities available for them. Being a model and in lime light helps one to enter in the field of acting through T.V or Cinema. If one has some acting skill then he can make it big on the silver screen and make big fortunes both in terms of name and fame along with a lot of monetary remunerations.
