Coast Guard Assistant Commandant as the designation itself specifies is an Officer of the rank of Assistant Commandant in various branches of Coast Guards of India. The different branches of Coast Guard to which they are recruited every year are the General Duty Branch, the Pilot/Navigator Branch and the Technical Branch.

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Eligibility

The eligibility criterion for Coast Guard Assistant Commandant in each of the branch is different.

Educational Qualification
For Assistant Commandants in the General Duty Branch
The aspiring candidates should be simple graduates. However, he must have studied maths and physics up to class and having passed the Second Mates exam.
Age Limits
Candidates should be in the age group of 21 years to 25 years

For Assistant Commandants in the Pilot/Navigator Branch
The candidate should be a Graduates who hold Commercial Pilot’s License too,
Age Limits
Candidates should be in the age group of 19 years to 27 years

For Assistant Commandants in the Technical Branch
Candidate should have an engineering degree in the specified area, like Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering etc.
Age Limits
Candidates should be in the age group of 21 years to 30 years

Other Eligibility Conditions
In addition to the academic qualifications, there are certain specified physical standards that a candidate should fulfil to be eligible for Coast Guard.  For these specifications, candidates can go through the notification issued by the concerned authorities at the time of the start of the recruitment process.

Possession of NCC B or C certificate or outstanding sports or athletic certificate is an added qualification.

How to become a Coast Guard Assistant Commandant?

To become a Coast Guard Assistant Commandant one has to follow the given steps:

Step 1
As a first step, the interested candidates have to procure the “Application Form” along with required information from the employment newspaper generally published in the month of January and June and sent the filled Application form to the regional centres as mentioned.

Step 2
Aspirants have to take the Written Exam. Carrying questions from  GK, Intelligence & Reasoning and Numerical ability.

Step 3
Shortlisted candidates are called for the final selection in New Delhi.  Thereafter interview and medical examination follow.

The promotional prospects are bright and Officers can reach up to the level of Deputy Inspector General and Inspector General Commandant.

 

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Salary

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant gets the pay scale of Rs.15600 to Rs.39,100 with grade pay of Rs.5,400. The Government of India has fixed salary grades for its employees at various posts. Although they keep on changing with new pay commission

Note: The above scales only provide an idea of the pay scales. Different branches of the service have different scales of pay. Even personnel of same branches may have different pay according to their area of posting and responsibility they are holding at a particular time.

In addition to the salary, Assistant Commandant receives various types of allowances such as Dearness Allowance, City compensatory Allowance, Leave Travel Allowance, Medical and subsidized housing.
