How to become a Statistician?
To be a Statistician one has to undergo one or more of the following Courses:
Candidates who wish to apply for B.Sc. Statistics should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the subjects Physics, Mathematics plus any one of the following: Chemistry, Statistics, Computer Science.
Interested candidate has to appear in an entrance test conducted by the various Universities providing 3 years of B.Sc. Statistics degree courses in the colleges affiliated with them.
However some colleges/universities also give admission on the basis of % of marks obtained in the qualifying class
After completing this 3 years of course in which one has to go through all the major aspects, one can take up jobs in private or public sector as a statistician like Statistical Survey of India etc. or start his own business of providing statistical data required by any organization. Besides taking up a job one can also go for the higher studies like M. Sc., Ph.D. etc.
To get admission to M. Sc courses students who have passed B.Sc. / B.A. , with Mathematics/ Statistics as one of the subjects or has passed B. Sc. in Computer Science with minimum 50 % marks in aggregate, are eligible.
