What to do after 10th to become an IAS Officer?

Que. I have completed my 10th class and want to become an IAS officer? What should I do next?

To become an IAS officer one has to take Civil Services Exam, the minimum qualification for taking Civil Services Exam is graduation or equivalent. Thus after 10th you have to do +2 taking subject of your interest, After clearing +2 you have to join some degree college to get the necessary Bachelor’s degree to be eligible to take Civil  Service Exam for IAS. After completion of graduation you have to follow the procedure given below:

  • Firstly, apply online/offline for UPSC Civil Services Exam held every year starting in the month of May. (Make sure you fullfil all the eligibility conditions before applying for the exam)
  • Secondly, Take  Civil Services Prilimanry Exam (Top students will be eligible for taking final exam probably first 10,000).
  • Thirdly, If you are able to clear Civil Services Prilimanry Exam, take Civil Services Main Exam. (Top Students will be called for Personal Interview nearly Ten times the number of Post)
  • Finally, Once done with Main Exam you will be called by UPSC for Personality Test and Personal interview.

Finally, selected candidates will be absorbed in the Civil Services according to their choice and  final ranking , like if you prefer IPS and have good ranking you will be able to get the post.
