About Datta Meghe Insitute of Medical Sciences

Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences is a Public Trust registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It was previously known as Smt. Radhikabai Meghe Memorial Medical Trust. It was established by Shri Dattaji Meghe who was a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha). The society is a proud proprietor of 27 institutions with 3000 students and 1500 staff members. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College established in 1990, is now among the best private medical colleges in the country. It also has the intake capacity of 150 students annually which is the highest among the private medical colleges in Maharashtra.

The Trust manages the following educational Institutions located in a unitary complex at Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha :-

• SPDC - Sharad Pawar Dental College .
• RNPC - Ravi Nair Physiotherapy College.
• MGAC - Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved College .

Transportation - The Institute is is very well connected by Road, Rail & Air ( Via Nagpur) to all major cities in India and is also very convenient for NRI/ Foreign Students coming here via Mumbai , New Delhi and Chennai.

• Wardha is about 70 kms. by road from Nagpur taking about an hour by Car/ Bus.

• The trains on the Mumbai – Howrah route stop at Wardha station whereas the south bound trains have a halt at the Sevagram station.

• Nagpur is very well connected by air to Mumbai (5 daily flights to and fro), New Delhi (2 daily flights), Hyderabad (one daily flight), Kolkata (one daily flight). There are more flights likely to start shortly to Mumbai and Pune thereby increasing the connectivity. Nagpur now is on the International air map with direct flights to Sharjah (Air Arabia) and Bangkok (Indian) on offer thrice a week. Direct flights to Doha and London are likely to be started soon.

• Moreover, there is a bus service from Nagpur to Wardha available at regular short intervals which make it very convenient to reach the campus.

Facilities

Hostels - Well-furnished hostels are provided for boys and girls separately with adequate open space and gardens around them. The hostels are looked after through a four -tier system consisting of resident Warden, Rector, Chief Rector and Hostel Advisory Committee.

Library - The Central Library has got a facility of Digital Library having 30 terminals. It has 4,023 number of books, 74 (60 Foreign & 14 indian) Journals ans 175 CD data bases.

Following services are available to the Staff and Students:

2. Computer based literature searches (online, offline).
3. Online Journals database searching through online passwords.
4. Computer services (Conferences and Seminar paper works and Research work etc).

AVBRH - Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital (AVBRH) is a 950 bedded fully equipped teaching Hospital attached to the Medical College with state of the art facilities. It also acts as the teaching hospital for the Nursing and Physiotherapy colleges which are located in the same campus. it offers super speciality treatment in the form of advanced surgeries such as Renal Transplant (only Private Medical College Hospital in Central India), Joint replacement, Corneal transplant, Endoscopies and Laparoscopic surgeries, Neuro and Spinal surgeries, Maxillofacial and Plastic surgeries as well as Onco Surgery to name a few. It is backed by the latest medical, imaging and diagnostic equipment such as Colour Doppler, CT Scan and High precision monitors. It is also equipped with an ultra modern Operation Theatre Complex with attached ICU, ICCU, Surgical ICU, Paediatric ICU and Neonatal ICUs having all the necessary equipments such as Multipara monitors, Central Monitoring System and Ventilators. A Cardiac Centre has also been launched which offers all surgeries related to the heart including Angioplasty, Open Heart Surgery, By-Pass Surgery etc.
