About Cochin University of Science and Technology

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a government owned autonomous university in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala. It has been founded in 1971. The university awards degrees in engineering and allied subjects at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. The university was reorganized into Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. The University provides admissions to students based on an All India Entrance Examination known as the Common Admission Test (CAT). It is located on about 180 acres in Thrikkakara, 10 kms. North of Ernakulam city and 20 kms south of Nedumbassery International Air port. At present, the University has 27 Departments. It has three campuses such as-

Library Facility - The Cochin University Library was established in 1977 as a central agency. Library is fully automated and has built up a balanced and rich collection on all branches of sciences and technology.

Intranet Facility - The University provides well set up Internet or Intranet facilities to students. All the Schools, Departments, Centers are connected through Fiber Optic Backbone from centralized hubs located in the Main Campus at Thrikkakara and in the Lakeside Campus at Kochi City.

Reservation Facility - The University provides reservations to students in admission based on communal reservation, special reservations, sports quota and many criteria.

NRI Facility - The University has a unit for International Relations and Academic Admissions (IRAA) leads to academic admission activities.

Financial Assistance Facilities - UGC has established a Cell for SC / ST in the University in 1984 with the financial assistance.
