About Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research

Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research is a Deemed University, which is declared under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, vide Notification No.F.9-36/2006-U. 3(A) Dt. 25th May 2007, MHRD, Government of India. The University comprises Sri Devaraj URS Medical College under the aegis of Sri Devaraj URS Educational Trust for Backward Classes, Kolar. The University office and the constituent college are located at Tamaka village, Kolar, spread over 100 acres of area. The campus has several buildings to accommodate the administrative, teaching / training, hospital, hostel facilities of the University and the Medical College with a total build up area of 85,000 sq.mtrs. It conducts medical courses at Under Graduate (MBBS), Post Graduate (MD, MS) and Post Graduate Diploma levels and plans to start doctoral programmes in Biochemistry, Microbiology and fellowship programme in Head and Neck Onco-Surgery.

Hostel Facilities - There are seven hostels in the University. There is sufficient hostel accommodation for both male and female students with suitable furnished rooms. The Boys’ hostels are: Men's Hostel, NRI Men's Hostel and PG Men's Hostel and girls’ hostel are: Junior Ladies Hostel, Senior Ladies Hostel, NRI Ladies Hostel and PG Ladies Hostel.

Library Facilities - The University has well equipped library to meet the information needs of the faculty and students. The library consists of 14,000 Books and 6,500 Back Volumes of Journals, 38 foreign journals and 71 Indian journals. It also subscribes to HELINET (E-journals) Consortium of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The library provides E-Information Centre for both students and faculty.

Common Facilities - There are common facilities for the students such as Indoor gymnasia, Common reading rooms and Common TV rooms. All hostels have solar heated water facility and water coolers.

Anti-ragging Cell - The University has instructed Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College the constituent unit of the University who has implemented measures to curb ragging in the campus. They have been as per the guidelines / regulations of the Medical Council of India and the University Grants Commission.
