About Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (SCSVM)
The Viswa Mahavidyalaya at Kanchi was established with the benign Blessings of Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and it attained the status of Deemed University in 1993. Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, formed under the aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust in 1993. The University has a campus in Poonamalle, Chennai, housing an ayurveda College, research centre and hospital. The University has a unique focus on integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific practices with a global outlook. he Mahavidyalaya offers presently programmes in Sanskrit and Traditional Sastras. In modern education, it offers UG and PG courses in various branches of Engineering, and PG courses in Computer Application and Management Studies. Bachelor.s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine, keeping with the original Ayurvedic tradition is offered in a constituent unit of the Mahavidyalaya. It offers Ph.D programmes in all disciplines. In keeping with the above vision, the emphasis in planning and development of the Mahavidyalaya is the blending of traditional wisdom of our land with modern science (technology) towards an integrated programme of higher education.

Location - It is located in a sprawling complex of 50 acres at Enathur, at a distance of about 4 Kilometres from Kanchipuram and 65 kms from Chennai.
Hostel - The University campus has two hostel buildings for boys. The University campus has two exclusive hostels for girls. Resident wardens provide complete and personalized attention. Facilities in the boys and girls hostels include: comfortable and well-ventilated rooms, peaceful and pollution-free surroundings, dining and mess facilities, telephone & internet access, common room with facilities, indoor and outdoor games, round-the-clock security and resident wardens
Computing & Web Centre - The web centre has high end servers and is connected by ERNET’s 2MBps connectivity link Leased Line. Internet connection is available campus wide, through the campus network, to enhance research and teaching activities. The Computing and development centre has high end client systems which are used by staff and students for research and development activities.
Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi International Library - Established in 1995, housed in Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Diamond Jubilee mahal is a unique facility in the University. Spread across an area of 7,500 sq. feet occupying spacious accommodations in three floors, the library provides an ideal ambience for reflection and study. The library plays a vital role in supporting teaching learning and research through lending. Reference and enquiry services there are around 200000 books ,current periodicals and expanding range of electronic services including over 1,000 tapes and CD ROMS of which the library dedicates a deserve a collection of books to the IT World and subscribes to over 100 specialized national and international journals. One unique feature of this library is the collection of rare and ancient manuscripts and palm-leaves, more than 6000 in number all micro film and preserved in air-conditioned rooms, benefiting to high quality research in sanskrit and various fields of modern science and technologies
Research - The University actively promotes Research & Development in all its departments, under The Dean, Research & Development. Ph.D. programmes are offered in all the departments of the University. The Department of Sanskrit and Indian Culture alone has produced more than 25 doctoral degrees. A large number of researchers are pursuing their doctoral research programmes through various departments.
Placements - The University produces more than 200 Qualified Professionals in the form of Engineers every year in the various branches and Masters in Business Administration and Computer Applications. The placement department organises - A) Final Project Placement Programme (Project Duration 8-10 Weeks) The final project is done by students as a full-time hands-on training project on-site to help the students gain an insight into an organization environment in applying theoretical inputs to practical work situations, enabling a smooth transition into the corporate world. B) Campus Placement Programme (Course scheduled for completion in May) The campus placement programme helps match the requirements of the corporates with the talent from the University and provides as a launch pad for the young graduates to kick-start their careers.
Transport Facilities - Transportation is available by university bus: From Kanchipuram to Enathur (4kms) and From Kanchipuram to Chennai
Bank Facility - Indian Bank has a full-fledged branch at Enathur, right opposite the University campus. All major Nationalized Banks have their branches inside Kanchipuram town (at a distance of about 5 kms from Enathur). ATM Facility is also available.
Sports - In keeping with its vision of all-round personality development, the University emphasizes and keenly encourages students to participate in sports and games. Facilities and equipment are available for all major sports. A Physical Education Director leads the staff for training/coaching students. A gymnasium on campus helps the students stay fit.
Medical Centre - A medical centre is functioning on the campus to provide the required medical care to students and faculty, and for meeting any emergency/ first-aid medical needs.
