About Central University of Kerala

Central University of Kerala is situated at Kasaragod Town. It has been established through an Act of Parliament, “The Central Universities Act, 2009" (Act No.25 of 2009) by the Government of India. The Kerala government has the whole jurisdiction on Central University of Kerala. The University is one of the 16 Central Universities established under “The Central Universities Act, 2009. It has started functioning from a transit campus in Vidyanagar, Kasaragod, with two academic programs namely M.A. English and Comparative Literature and M.A. Economics since January 2009. The central University of Kerala operates from two transit campuses.

Central University of Kerala Facilities

Hostel Facilities - There are separate hostels both for girls and boys offered by the University in Vidyanagar and Riverside campuses. It is on first come-first serve basis. Sports and Recreation facilities are provided in the hostels along with homely environment.

Library Facilities The University has well equipped library started functioning in October 2009.

Scholarship Facilities - It is based on merit obtained in the entrance examination. The meritorious students will be awarded scholarships linked to the program of study. All students admitted to the postgraduate program will get financial support in the form of merit scholarship or merit-cum-means scholarship or boarding and lodging allowance.

Linguistic Centre Facilities - Central University of Kerala is supposed / planed to have a Centre for Linguistic Applications and Production (CLAP). The centre proposes to produce materials in terms of books, translations, software, and courseware besides creating, documenting and disseminating knowledge.

Central University of Kerala Achievements

UGC-JRF Award - Abdul Hameed PA, the topper of MA in English and Comparative Literature (2009-11), has been awarded UGC-JRF in Comparative Literature (Dec 2010).
