About Jaipur National University

Jaipur National University is a University with recent origin as it was established on October 22, 2007. Jaipur National University is sponsored University. It's sponsoring body is Mahima Shiksha Samiti. The University was honoured with approval and recognition from all the national bodies, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), under the clause 2(f) of its Act of 1956. All the properties and assets of the Mahima Shiksha Samiti and the Institutions of higher education of the Seedling Group were merged with the University. Not only is Jaipur National University the first of its kind in Jaipur and the whole of Rajasthan, it is also a forerunner and premier temple of learning, introducing various integrated and interdisciplinary programmes of study and research in the country. Following the opening up of the Indian economy and the resultant growth therein, the University has adopted an international curriculum, collaborating with various premier Universities and educational institutes including the London School of Business Management, Bond University, Gold Coast, (Australia) and Institute for Pre-Service Training and Professional Teaching Practice, Germany.

At present, fourteen Schools and various departments in the Schools organize teaching and research under the supervision and guidance of their respective Directors and Heads of the Departments. The University has as of today more than 4000 students and 225 faculty members. This speaks volumes about the academic popularity and appreciation of the University by the aspiring students and their parents.The University carries out teaching and evaluation in all the Schools through semester system and ongoing assessment. A great deal of emphasis is put on understanding and articulation (both written and oral) by way of mid-semester tests, tutorial assignments, term-papers, presentations, and development of soft-skills, etc. The University has devised remedial courses, advisory system, and effective teacher-student interaction, with a view to upgrade skills of the needy students. Scholarships have been instituted for both needy and meritorious students. Thus, the Jaipur National University strives for high quality of teaching, relevant and innovative research, and for fulfilment of its social responsibilities.

Location and Transportation - The University is located on the foothills of the Aravalis on approximately 50 acres of land at Jagatpura, Jaipur. The University is close to the centre of the city and the airport. One can reach the University from the main Railway Station and Central Bus Stand within half an hour. Proximity of Jaipur to Delhi is an added advantage. A distance of 250 kms that separates the two cities can be covered by the excellent National Super-Express Highway No. 8, in four hours. Besides extensive road connectivity, Jaipur is approachable by Rail and Air from all major cities of India, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

Facilities

Library - Libraries in all three campuses of the university are well-equipped with all modern facilities and resources in the form of books, national and international journals, magazines, periodicals, references, CD-ROMs, standard thesis, reports etc. All the activities of the libraries are computerized through “Alice for Windows”, a Library Management Software. This software provides Management, Circulation, Inquiry and many other services related with routine library administration activities. This vast reservoir of knowledge is a source of constant value addition to the students and faculty members. There are nearly one lakh reference/text-books, and journals of national and international standards. More than 150 printed Journals & Magazines are available on Internet.

Laboratories - Each school of the university has its own well-furnished laboratory equipped with all modern facilities and standard instruments that cater to all the academic and research requirements of the students.

Sports - These include - Indoor facilities: Table Tennis, Chess, Carom and Gymnasium. Outdoor facilities: Basket Ball and Volley Ball Modern facilities are being developed for games such as Cricket, Hockey, Football, Tennis, etc., at the new campus.

Auditorium and Conference Halls - The existing campus already has two auditoriums with seating capacity of more than 300 . The University also plans to make an ultra-modern auditorium at the new campus with a seating capacity of more than a thousand.

Hostels - In a capital city like Jaipur, an outstation student finds it difficult to live outside the campus. Presently the number of students living in hostels is 1200 which is likely to rise to around 1800 by the beginning of the 2009-10 session. The hostels are well-equipped with an central air-cooling system. Mess provides hygienic and quality food.

Civic amenities - Facilities of cafeteria, a stationary shop with photocopy and printing facilities, and ATM are also available.

Internet - The university equipped with 24X7 Wi-Fi access, Cyberoam- hardware firewall and filter, Fiber optic connectivity within campus and Radio link connectivity between campuses

Training and Placements - Jaipur National University has an independent placement cell to facilitate campus placements and jobs for the students. The placement cell also imparts training relating to personality development, written and oral skills, and about overall employment trends in both public and corporate sectors. Over the years, several well-known companies of the corporate world and other agencies have visited the campus for recruitment of our professionals. Many of our students have gone abroad for higher studies. Some of the institutions, where the students have received training/ employment are - Accenture, Tata Industries, Wipro Infotech etc.

Achievements

Three times, the University has been rated among the top 20 BT Schools of India by the well known magazine - Biospectrum.
