About ICFAI University - Dehradun

ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand (hereinafter referred to as the University) was established under the ICFAI University Act 2003 (Act No.16 of 2003) passed by the Uttaranchal Legislative Assembly and assented to by the Governor on July 08, 2003. The ICFAI University, Dehradun, (IUD) is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) which is a non-profit educational society established in 1984 under the Andhra Pradesh (Telangana Area) Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 F (Act No.1 of 1350F), with the objective of imparting training in finance and management to students, working executives and professionals in India. It is included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under  Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, vide their letter No. F.9-26/2003 (CPP-I) dated July 22, 2005. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has approved the programs of the ICFAI University, Dehradun. The Bar Council of India has accorded its approval for imparting three year and five year Law Courses at ICFAI University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand and  award degrees in law. The University has received the approval of NCTE to offer the Bachelors Program in Education through its constituent college the ICFAI College of Education. It offers a number of educational programs in management, finance, banking, insurance, accounting, law, information technology, arts, commerce, education and science & technology at bachelor’s and master’s levels on full-time campus and distance learning formats. The University also allows private candidates to enrol in various programs if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. The University does not provide any courseware, nor conduct any contact classes, nor offer any other support services to private candidates. Such candidates have to prepare for the programs on their own as per the curriculum and are required to attend the examinations, as per the rules and regulations of the University. The University has no study centres/branches outside the State of Uttarakhand. The ICFAI University is in the process of establishing a state of art campus with all the facilities near Dehradun. The university has obtained on lease 95,532 sq. ft. of built up area in at Selaqui off Chakratha Road, Dehradun for conducting various academic programs of University.

Faculty \ Constituent Colleges

Faculty of Management Studies \ ICFAI Business School - It offers two-year full-time, campus-based MBA Program with specialization in Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Operations and Information Technology as well as Sectoral – MBA in Banking and Financial Services, Agri Business, Capital Markets and Logistics & Supply Chain.

Faculty of Science and Technology \ ICFAI Institute of Science and Technology - It offers B.Tech. Program in Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Faculty of Law \ ICFAI Law School - It offers a three year LL.B Program and five years Integrated BBA, LL.B (Hons.) Program.

Faculty of Education \ ICFAI Education School - It offers the campus-based full-time B.Ed. Program.  

Facilities

SIP - Summer Internship Program provides students a 14-week internship at any organization during the intervening period between close of Semester II and commencement of Semester III. The program is almost equivalent to one semester and carries a weightage of 18 units, which is normally equivalent to six academic courses. The internship is a vehicle for introducing students to real-life situation, which cannot be simulated in the classroom. It requires the students to undergo the rigour of professional environment both in form and substance. It exposes them to technical skills and helps them to acquire social skills by drawing them into contact with real professionals. A representative of the industry/organization also guides the student and assists the faculty in monitoring the student’s progress.

Concessions, Scholarships and Support - These are as follows:

Special concessions are extended to students domiciled in Uttarakhand.

Applicable to students of :

• MBA and MBA-Sectoral Program (2 Years).

• BBA and BHTM Program (3 Years).

• B.Tech. Program. (4 years Campus based).

• LL.B Program and Integrated BBA, LL.B (Hons.) Program) - There is a fee concession of 25% in tuition fee. This fee concession varies from instalment to instalment. Merit scholarship of up to 50% in the form of fee concession in the tuition fees is also provided to the applicants who emerge as the rank holders in the ILAT and who are admitted into the Law Program. These scholarships are awarded only to the rank holders of ILAT and not on the basis of CLAT/LSAT. These merit scholarships will be available to a maximum of 25 students in each semester. The merit scholarships will be continued semester after semester subject to the students maintaining minimum stipulated academic standards, like meeting the required CGPA (8.0 and above), attendance, etc.

• B.Ed. Program - A concession of 25% in tuition fee is provided which is subject to the students meeting the minimum qualifying requirements.

Financial Aid - All students admitted into the Ph.D. program will be eligible for fellowship. They can get a fellowship of Rs.20,000 per month in the first stage, Rs.22,500 per month in the second stage i.e. after qualifying the examination and Rs.25000 after approval of the thesis proposal. A professional development grant of Rs.10,000 per annum is also given to the students for the first two years. Further, there is a scope for financial assistance to the students for participating in international conferences. The tuition fee of Rs. 60,000 per semester will be waived for the student for all the 8 semesters of the program subject to meeting the specified academic requirements. All students who have received financial aid are required to work for IUD for a minimum period of five years, after completion of the Ph.D. Program.

FDPs - Faculty Development Programs are being organized from time to time for the faculties of Management, Engineering, Law and Education.

Extra and Co-Curricular Activities - Several co-curricular activities like, group discussions, management games, seminars, industrial visits, sports meets, cultural meets, games, debating, quizzes and skits & plays are held regularly.
