About Uttarakhand Technical University

Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) is a State Technical University. It was established on 27th January 2005 by Uttarakhand Technical University act 2005. It was established with the aim of propagating and enhancing the level of technical education in the state of Uttaranchal. Before the formation of the state of Uttaranchal all the Technical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh were affiliated to U.P. Technical University. However, after the formation of the new state of ‘Uttaranchal’, the government felt the need for a separate technical university for technical colleges which came under territory of Uttaranchal. Thus a new University was born with the name of ‘Uttaranchal Technical University’. However, with the change in name of the State, from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand in 2007, the University’s name was also changed to ‘Uttarakhand Technical University’. It offers higher education in the field of Engineering, Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Catering, Business Administration and IT. It has ordinance for various courses like Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology Programme, M.B.A., M.B.A. (Rural) Programmes, Bachelor of Pharmacy Programmes, Bachelor of Technology Programmes and Master in Computer Application (MCA) Programmes. It runs AICTE approved courses through 91 affiliating institutions.

The students studying in these colleges are affiliated directly with Uttarakhand Technical University and get a degree from the University itself for their courses.

All these colleges provide various graduation and post graduation courses in technical fields. The admission process for all these courses are conducted through a state level entrance exam. Students need to attend this exam and score according to various cut-offs of the different colleges. This admission process starts with attending this exam mostly in the month of June. The entrance exam forms are generally sold during April. After the completion of exams and announcement of results, interviews for different courses in different colleges are conducted.
