About Sri Venkateswara Vedic University - SVVU

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) is a residential and affiliating University. S.V.V.U. came into existence on 12.07.2006. The University is the by product of primarily, the sincere efforts of Shri Rameshwar Thakur Ji, former governor of Andhra Pradesh, and secondarily of the positive responses by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which is committed to Sanatana Hindu Dharmam. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (T.T.D) is also the sponsoring body of the University. SVV University has been established to preserve, foster and promote oral traditions of Vedic, Agamic and Cognate Literature, with focus on right intonations. Its objectives are to conduct research and propagate the relevance of knowledge system and the wisdom contained in the Vedic Literature for meeting the challenges of life in the technology driven contemporary society. Furthermore, the ideals enshrined in the Vedas promote Universal peace, harmony and brotherhood. Today, the need of the hour is to protect the most efficient and pious literature of Vedas and to spread the message contained in it. Sri Venkateswara Vedic University has begun this endeavour through, not only just teaching but through research and publications, as well. While strengthening the tradition of recitation in Vedas, Agamas and Paurohithya, the University wants to produce comprehensive Vedic Scholars, who understand the Mantras they recite. With this intention, the Vedic University has started degree and PG courses in Veda Bhashya. Through the programme Vedasandesa, the University is trying to speed up the vedic message among the common people. The University offers Sastri (B.A.), Acharya (M.A), Visishtacharya (M.Phil.) and Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) courses.

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University Facilities

Incentives - The University offers certain incentives and amenities to its students pursuing the Adhyayana Courses of Veda, Agama, Paurohitya, Vedabhashya on traditional lines. In order to promote and propagate the fast disappearing disciplines of knowledge that stood as the main component of Indian Wisdom and Culture, the students under this category are given an incentive of Rs. One Lakh at the time of admission into degree or doctorate levels. The amount deposited in a nationalized bank consisting of principle and accrued interest shall be handed over to the student on successful completion of the course.

Accommodation and Food – Free boarding, free food and accommodation is provided to the Traditional and Modern students in the hostel run by the University. The hostel rooms are furnished and the food consists of breakfast with milk, lunch, evening snacks along with milk and dinner. 2 blankets are provided to the newly admitted traditional students in Sastri and Acharya courses

Clothing – The students are also given free clothing i.e. dhoti and upper cloth twice in a year to the traditional students.

Books - Textbooks and notebooks are supplied to the students, free of cost.

Free Toiletries - Free oils (Coconut & Gingely) and soaps are provided every month to the Traditional students.

Computer Laboratories - University has separate fully equipped computer laboratories for both traditional and modern students for giving computer training as part of their curriculum.

Gymnasium - The University has well equipped 20 station gymnasium for physical fitness.

Medical - Medical consultancy is also provided through SVIMS which is adjacent to the campus.

Yoga - Yoga practice is provided every day to the students in the morning hours.

Extra-curricular Activities – The University sponsors the students for attending national wide competitions like sports, games, yoga, debate etc. conducted by various Institutions. Sports competitions are conducted in the month of January.

Recreation – The University provides recreation for the students through news papers, facilities for indoor and outdoor games, learning of music etc.

Tours - To understand the traditional culture and practical exposure in traditional activities, tour programmes are conducted for the final year Sastri students with in Andhra Pradesh and for Achrya students with in India.
