About DAV University

DAV University, Jalandhar is a Private Multi-disciplinary University established in 2013. It was established by the State Legislature of Government of Punjab through the DAV University Act. The University is managed and sponsored by Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College Trust and Management Society, New Delhi through its Executive Body, the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. D.A.V. is the single largest non-governmental educational organization in the country managing 780 institutions all over India. DAV University at Jalandhar belongs to an organisation which has been reforming and redefining India's educational scenario for 127 years. It is the culmination of the movement that started with the founding of the first DAV institute to propagate the ideals of the religious and social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati in Lahore on June 1, 1886. The University is spread over an area of about 80 acres and is well equipped with modern infrastructure including round-the-clock power backup, water supply, canteens and huge parking area in the basement of each building.

Location - The campus is located at village Sarmastpur – about 10 km on the Jalandhar - Pathankot National Highway (NH 44).

Reaching the Campus

By Rail - Jalandhar railway station is on the Delhi-Amritsar Railway line. It is connected with direct trains to Delhi, Bhopal, Calcutta, Mumbai, Puri, Nagpur, Jammu etc.

By Road - There is a large network of bus services from various towns and cities of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP, Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan.

Facilities at D.A.V., Jallandhar

Hostels - The University provides separate hostels facilities for girls and boys. It is equipped with modern amenities including hygienic kitchens, lifts, recreation rooms and indoor games. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans, but the students may opt for water coolers or air conditioners in their rooms.

Library - The Library has more than 15,000 reference books. It is equipped with four dozen computers in the library for facilitating studies, access to e-journals and for internet. It subscribes to Delnet Access for providing e-resources to the students. It has subscribed to two dozen national and international journals.

Smart Classrooms - The University has setup smart classrooms equipped with audio visual aids including LCD screens and computerized overhead projection systems.

Lifts in Buildings - The University has installed elevators (lifts) administrative and academic blocks to ensure students reach their classrooms without wasting time and energy.

Wi-Fi Enabled Campus – D.A.V. Jalandhar provides access to high speed Wi-Fi connectivity for accessing internet.

Banking Facility - State Bank of India has a branch on the campus. The students can open their savings bank accounts with zero balance facility and carry out financial transactions including the payment of fee and university dues.

Medical Facilities – D.A.V.J. provides university students primary medical facilities. Apart from on campus medical facilities, the university has a tie-up with Capitol Hospital in Jalandhar to provide health care to students, if needed.

Sports - DAV University has large playgrounds and facility for several indoor and outdoor sports activities.

Hobby Classes – The University offers the students the option of picking short-term hobby courses. They may enrol to learn foreign languages which would facilitate them to communicate abroad in case they get overseas jobs.

Scholarships - The University grants scholarships to students securing 90 per cent marks or above, standing first in the University in their respective programme and those belonging to weaker sections of the society.

Centre for Competitive Examinations - DAV University has set up Centre for Competitive Examinations which prepares students for taking civil services preliminary examination.

Placement Wing - Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) ensures placement of the students pursuing various professional courses. The university has roped in some government organizations, MNCs and Indian companies to carry out recruitment drives on the campus.
