Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into following programme for 2013.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mathematics
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Computer Science
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Physics
Eligibility Conditions
For Ph.D in Mathematics Program
- Candidates holding B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.(Math)/M.Sc.(Math) are eligible to apply.
For Ph.D in Computer Science Program
- Candidates holding B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc.(C.S.)/M.C.A are eligible to apply.
For Ph.D in Physics Program
- Candidates holding B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.(Physics)/M.Sc.(Physics) are eligible to apply.
How to Apply
- Candidates can apply online by visiting the official website.
- Candidates can request a printed application form, either by post or in person. In either case, there is an application fee of Rs.600.
- Alternatively, you can obtain application forms and information brochures by post. Send a DD for Rs.600 in favour of Chennai Mathematical Institute payable at Chennai.
Selection Procedure
For Ph.D in Mathematics Program
- Candidates can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the written exam in Mathematics conducted by NBHM/CSIR, without writing the CMI entrance examination.
For Ph.D in Computer Science Program
- Candidates can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2013) in Theoretical Computer Science, without writing the CMI entrance examination.
For Ph.D in Physics Program
- Candidates can qualify for the interview on the basis of their performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST-2013) in Physics without writing the CMI entrance examination. Only candidates within the top 300 ranks will qualify through this category.

- Date of entrance examination: 15th May, 2013 (Wednesday)
