Physical Education is a course or training in the development of and care for the human body. Bachelor of Physical Education is an Undergraduate Academic Degree awarded for a course or program in the field of Physical Education. It is popularly known as B.P.Ed. or B.P.E. which is an abbreviated form of the Bachelor of Physical Education Degree. Physical Education Degree course consists of theory paper and practicals. All India Council of Physical Education is an Apex body of Physical Education constituted as per the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of Indian Parliament to look after the Physical Education programmes in the country.
There are 2 Levels at which Bachelor of Physical Education Degree is offered:
B.P.Ed. - 3-4 year Course
Admission Tests include:
i) Physical Fitness Test - The Test may comprise comprise Pull-ups (Boys) / Flexed-arm Hang (Girls), Flexed-leg Sit-ups for one minute, Shuttle Run (30ft X 4), Standing Broad Jump, 50-Yard Dash and or 600- Yard Run. Those who fail to secure 50% of the composite score of 60 points of the test battery shall not be eligible for further testing.
ii) Academic Test - It is a test in General Knowledge and English of 50 marks. Candidates who secure less than 40% marks are not be eligible for further testing.
iii) Game/Sport Playing Ability Test - It is of 50 mark. Each candidate is required to opt one game/sport of his/her choice for assessment, out of the games/sports included in the schedule of I.O.A or Association of Indian Universities, Sports Division. However, the College reserves the right to delete any game/sport from the list on administrative considerations. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in this test.
The merit for admission shall be reckoned on the basis of total marks obtained by a candidate in tests (ii) and (iii) subject to a minimum of 50% of the combined total (100 marks).
