Water resources engineers are concerned with the problems associated with the use and control of water. They will work to prevent floods, to supply water for cities, industry and irrigation, to treat wastewater, to protect beaches, to manage and reuse storm water, to institute water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) or to manage river systems. They might be involved in the design, construction, or maintenance of storm water harvesting and re-use systems, wastewater treatment systems, desalination systems, dams, pipelines, pumping stations, locks, or seaport facilities.
