M.Sc. (Materials Science)
Master of Science in Materials Science

Email

Duration:2 Years
Level:Graduation
Type:Degree
Eligibility:Graduation

M.Sc. Materials Science or Master of Science in Materials Science is a postgraduate Material Science and Engineering course. Material Science includes compounds, usually containing C-H bonds), which are the subjects of organic chemistry. Materials Science & Engineering is the science that enables the synthesis and application of materials in everyday society. Nearly everything we use is made of a material that has been modified or designed by a materials engineer to perform better than it would without a little help from humans. Materials scientists and engineers develop new materials and ways to use them. The program covers all the main types of materials and processing technologies and covers advanced subjects related to all the principal classes of materials (metals, polymers, ceramics) solid state physics and materials characterization with emphasis on biomaterials. The duration of the course is two years and its syllabus is divided into four semesters.

M.Sc. Materials Science Eligibility

  • Bachelors Degree in Science (B.Sc. Botany / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry) with minimum 55% marks with Polymer Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Petro Chemicals / Environment & Water Management as the main subject and Mathematics and Physics / Computer Science, as subsidiaries with 55% marks in the main subject.
  • Some reputed colleges and institutes do conduct entrance examination to get admission to their M.Sc. Degree course.

M.Sc. Materials Science Course Suitability

  • They should have analytical and problem-solving skills; a high standard of numeracy; IT competency and computer-modelling experience.
  • Other essential skills are research and report-writing skills; creative and independent thinking; time management, planning and organisational skills; commercial awareness and business skills.
  • They must possess strong oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate your ideas clearly and concisely, to persuade and negotiate with others and to build interpersonal relationships.
  • Those who want to become teacher and lecturer after Master Degree also can go for it.

How is M.Sc. Materials Science Course Beneficial?

  • The Master degree course helps the students to invent, design, make and use materials for products, processes and services and they deploy these activities based on an in-depth understanding of materials processing, the structure of materials and materials properties, including the intricate relationships between them.
  • It is beneficial for further studies such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. for research work.
  • Materials Science degree will provide the graduate with the appropriate background to find employment in the exciting field of electronic materials. Specifically the graduate will receive experience in high-technology materials synthesis, and characterization. This experience will include the operation and design of the equipment used to make integrated circuits.
  • Teaching is also one of the best options with the Master degree holders.
  • Course helps to create skilled professionals who can operate in the design, fabrication, and testing of engineering materials using cutting-edge technologies in both research and technological environment.
