The preliminary online registration for M TET has closed, which had fetched around 6 lakh registrations from the state.

M TET is set to be conducted on December 15 for the first time in the state this year. The state government said the test would help "filter the best candidates from the rest" and that public and private schools would be allowed to recruit only those teachers who have cleared the examination.

There are altogether 3,38,658 sanctioned posts of the teachers in the state, of which 32,746 are vacant.

TET is not mandatory for existing teachers and is applicable for those aspiring to join schools as teachers from now on.
