IGNOU launched new course on Geoinformatics

Indira Gandhi National Open University launched a postgraduate certificate programme in geoinformatics. The programme has been designed and developed with the help of experts from IIT, IIIT, ISRO, DRDO, C-DAC and also various other universities across India as well.

The subject will have three theory papers and a practical component. The programme will cover areas such as remote sensing, geographic information system, global positioning system, image interpretation, digital image processing and cartography.

The eligibility criterion for the subject is to have science subject at the graduation level and at 10+2 level as well. It will be a January or July session and the programme can be completed in six months to two years, as said by the officials.
