CBSE Board Class 10, 12 Exam 2021: The Education Ministry Wednesday postponed the CBSE Class 12 board exams and cancelled the Class 10 exams taking into consideration the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country.
For the Class 12 exam, the Ministry will review the situation on June 1 to decide fresh dates and make an announcement at least two weeks before the start of the exams.
This decision is going to affect nearly 21 lakh Class 10 students and 14 lakh Class 12 students across the country
Earlier the Class 10 and 12 exams were scheduled to start May 4.
According to the Ministry’s statement, CBSE will prepare the Class 10 results based on an “objective criterion”. And of any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in the exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams,” the Ministry said.
School Boards of Maharashtra, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh have already deferred their Board exams. Chhattisgarh has cancelled the Class 10 exam and postponed the Class 12 exam.
Last year, the CBSE had to discontinue the Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams midway as the government decided to close educational institutions to break the chains of transmission. The remaining exams were postponed to July but were eventually cancelled and students were assessed on a special marking scheme.
