B.Optometry or Bachelor of Optometry is an undergraduate Optometry program. Optometry is the study of human eyes and matters related to their nature and eyesight problems. The Bachelor of Optometry program aims to provide students with skills and knowledge in the correction of refractive conditions of the eye and prescription of glasses, designing and fitting contact lenses, aniseikonic lenses, and low vision aids, diagnosing and orthoptic treatment of oculomotor malfunctions, public health optometry-education on ocular hygiene and related nutritional and environmental counseling, and visual rehabilitation and follow-up of low vision patients. The Bachelor of Optometry program lasts four years and is career-oriented, opening up a variety of opportunities upon graduation.

Bachelor of Optometry Eligibility

  • Students must have passed their 10+2 examination or any equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology OR Mathematics and English as mandatory subjects from a recognized Board.
  • The candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks at their Intermediate level.
  • The candidate should be over 17 years of age as of 31st December of the year of the admission.
