Diploma in Industrial Health is a Diploma level course abbreviated as DIH. Industrial Health is a field of medicine that deals with health concerns pertaining to the workplace like ergonomic factors, lighting, acid and metal vapors, milling and mining dust and exposure to asbestos. The course is designed to build on existing clinical skills, with the aim to present the student with the learning opportunities which will develop their clinical, investigative and managerial skills in the context of industry and the workplace. On completion of the coursework program, you will be able to manage all aspects of health and safety identification, assessment and control, apply specialized knowledge to implement prevention and control programs in the workplace, consult and communicate with appropriate use of managerial and industrial frameworks, analyses the implications of political, economic, sociological and technological trends on workplace health and safety practices, and promote a safe and healthy workforce through provision of education and information programs. D.I.H. as a medical course is approved by the Medical Council of India and as per its norms, it is of 2 years duration. There are only handful of institutes offering this course, any other similar named course of same, lesser or more duration, may or may not be approved by Non-Medical Council of India and as such it should be enquired upon to have a clear understanding of the course.
