M.Tech High Voltage Engineering or Master of Technology in High Voltage Engineering is a postgraduate Power System Engineering course. The High Voltage Engineering course deals with the physical behavior of equipment and systems for production, transmission, and use of electrical energy, and with the construction and characteristics of these equipment and systems.

Design of high voltage power apparatus, estimation of electrical field strength in power apparatus, development of methods of detecting faults during impulse voltage testing, estimation of overvoltage power apparatus, the study of Micro-arrays, and development of Gene chips are the major areas of research in high voltage engineering. The study and modeling of material characteristics in electric fields, material aging, discharges, and breakdown in gases, liquids, solids, and sophisticated insulating systems (multi-phase systems) are all covered in this course. Modern high voltage measurement techniques, as well as testing and diagnostics of various components and apparatus, are also important.

M.Tech High Voltage Engineering Eligibility

  • The candidates should have passed a BE / B.Tech degree in a relevant subject or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • The candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's.
  • Some of the very reputed universities and colleges conduct an entrance examination for admission.
