P.G.D. Textile Designing or Post Graduate Diploma in Textile Designing is a postgraduate Textile Design courseThis diploma course relates to the field of Arts (fashion and technology). As far textile designing is concerned it the process of creating designs for knitted, woven or printed fabrics by using the latest ways of technology. The programme starts with the learning of the fundamentals of textile design. These include elementary ergonomics, textile fibres, colour, composition, and basic textile design for weaving and printing. It also covers dyeing techniques, printing methods, sewing techniques, and construction of fabrics and surface design. The duration of the course is normally two years after the successful completion of graduation. The time span of the course may fluctuate from place to place. The course is very valuable and job orienting in the fashion world.

  • Students having a graduate degree in/with Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Sculpture and Diploma in Fashion Designing from any recognized university or institute are eligible.

Study of a human figure (especially in different posture) in charcoal pastel and colour.

History of Modern costume and Textile Designing

 

Origin of Textile Designing from Pre- Historic age. Greeco-Roman culture of Costume design. Contemporary costume designing for men and women.

Appreciation of Indian Costume

 

Study of Indian costume from different state or culture. Study of the loom (Handloom and Automatic) and their uses.

Project Study Report

 

Students should submit their detail project report on the industry internship period before the final examination.

Year II (Practical Papers)

Creative textile design

 

Textile design on paper. Use of Natural forms i.e. Leaves, flower and geometrical forms for all over design by Booty, Karry and Check, Banarasi, Patola Phulkari, Embroidery design.

Costume Accessories

 

Study of handbags, Belts, Gloves, Footwear and their product design with material available.

Jewellery Design

 

Silverware design for Jewellery (Rural, Traditional, urban and stylish ornament). Illustration of the human figure along with Jewellery decoration.

Internship 

 

During 4 week internship, the student will work with an Industry/Factory or Workshop. He/She will prepare and present a detail article/report on that to the department under a supervisor.
