DBT JRF BET 2024 - Department of Biotechnology Junior Research Fellowship Biotechnology Eligibility Test acronym DBT JRF BET is conducted for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and Applied Biology. JRFs will be selected according to merit under two categories: Category I&II. Category I fellowship (Top 275 in number) is tenable in any University/Institute in India where the students can register for Ph.D. Category II students (100 in number) will be eligible to join any DBT-sponsored project and avail fellowship from the project, equivalent to NET/GATE qualification as per DST guidelines, subject to selection through the institutional selection process. Registration for Ph.D. will be decided by institutional rules.

Aspiring candidates should have M.Sc / M.Tech / M.V.Sc degree with a specialization such as Agricultural, Animal / Veterinary, Medical, Marine, Industrial, Environmental, Pharmaceutical, Food, Bic-resources Biotechnology, "Biochemical Engineering, Biosciences and Biotechnology, and M.Sc "Molecular & Human Genetics" and M.Sc "Neuroscience" as well as B.E.JB.Tech. in Biotechnology (4-year course after 10+2) recognized by UGC/AICTE securing a minimum of 60% marks for General & OBC category and 55% for SC/ST/P1-i in aggregate or equivalent grade)
Aspiring candidates should be up to 28 years as of the last date of application for the general category.
Note Age relaxation of up to 5 years (up to 33 years) for SC/ST/PH and women candidates and 3 years (31 years) for OBC (Non-creamy layer).

DBT JRF General consists of two parts:
Part-A will have all compulsory 75 MCQ questions, out of which 25 will be of analytical aptitude, comprehension and quantitative reasoning type and 50 will be from General Biotechnology.
Part-B consists of 200 questions out of which only 50 questions need to be answered. Questions in Part B will also include general biotechnology in addition to the specialized areas.
