NIACL Assistant Exam 2024 Eligibility
Eligibility conditions for taking NIACL Assistant Exam are as follows:
Nationality
A candidate applying for recruitment in the Company must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
2. Age Limits (as of 1st July 2024)
Minimum Age: 18 years; Maximum Age: 30 years.
The upper age limit will be relaxed as under:
- Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe 5 years
- Other Backward Classes (eligible for reservation) 3 years
- Persons With Disability 10 Years
- Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen Actual period of service rendered in the defense forces + 3 years subject to a maximum age limit of 45 years
- Widows, Divorced women, and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried for 5 year
- Persons ordinarily domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 1-1-80 to 31-12-89. 5 years
- Existing Employees of the New India Assurance Company Limited 5 years
Note: The relaxation in the upper age limit to SC/ ST/ OBC candidates is allowed on a cumulative basis with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above Points 2 (3) to (7).
Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit copies of the necessary certificate(s) along with the original certificate(s) for verification at the time of the interview and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by the Company.
For Ex-Servicemen
- In the case of an Ex-serviceman who has once joined a Govt. job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-serviceman for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government ceases.
- An Ex-serviceman, who applies for various vacancies before joining any civil employment, can avail of the benefit of reservation as an ex-serviceman for any subsequent employment.
- However, to avail of this benefit, an ex-serviceman, as soon as he/she joins any civil employment, should give a self-declaration/undertaking to the concerned employer about the date-wise details of application for various vacancies for which he/she had applied before joining the initial civil employment. Further, this benefit would be available only in respect of vacancies that are filled on direct recruitment and wherever reservation is applicable to the ex-servicemen.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate from a recognized University OR Pass in HSC/Equivalent (XII pass) examination with 60% marks (50% for Ex-servicemen, SC/ST, and Persons with Disabilities); and the candidate should have passed in English as one of the subjects at SSC/ HSC/ Intermediate/ Graduation level; and Knowledge of Regional Language i.e., Language of the State of Recruitment is essential.
- Proficiency in the Regional Language of the State/UT (candidates should know how to read/write and speak the Regional Language of the State/ UT), for whose vacancies a candidate wishes to apply, is preferable. (Some questions may be put at the time of the interview to ascertain the candidate‘s familiarity with the Regional Language of the State/UT)
NIACL Assistant Exam 2024 Syllabus
NIACL Assistant Exam consists of questions from the following subjects/topics.
1. Test of Reasoning
- This test would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal types.
- The test may include questions on analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, and arithmetical number series, etc.
- The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate's abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computation, and other analytical functions.
2. Test of English Language
- This is a test to see how well you know English. English language ability would be tested through questions on grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, comprehension of a passage, etc.
3. Test of Numerical Ability
- Questions will be designed to test the ability of arithmetical computation of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions and the relationship between numbers.
- The questions would be based on arithmetical concepts and the relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical computations.
4. Test of General Knowledge and General Awareness
- The questions in this section will be set to test the candidate's knowledge of day-to-day events and his basic general knowledge.
5. Test of Computer Knowledge
- The questions in this section will test the working computer knowledge of the candidates.
NIACL Assistant Exam 2024 Pattern
NIACL Assistant Exam is an Online Test consisting of 200 objective-type multiple-choice questions carrying 250 marks and is to be completed in 2 Hrs. times as given below:

Note: There will be a penalty of 1/4 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates must pass each section separately and should also obtain minimum marks in aggregate to qualify for the interview. English language test is of qualifying nature and the marks in the English Language will not be counted for ranking.
Interview
- Candidates in the ratio of 1:3 depending upon the no of vacancies will be called for the Interview.
- An interview will be for 15 marks.
